2000 Yamaha V Star

I bought this bike because the price was right and already had many of the upgrades i had planed to do. This bike runs and feels great. The bike is comfortable for both me and my wife. She feels like it was custom made for us.

I have owned a few cruisers in the 650 to 1100 range, and my 2000 V Star 650 Classic has been the best. These are known to be solid as a rock in reliability and mine is no exception. I see Harley buys broke down all the time, or wrenching on their bike. Why make a payment and wrench when you can get on the thing and ride on the cheap? Shaft drive is awesome, no complaints. I am 6 foot 3, 250 pounds. This bike handles me just fine. I ride with other guys who have bigger yamahas, cows, and harleys. Mine keeps up unless we get on an interstate onramp...then it takes a little time to catch up, but only a little. Again, cheaper to buy, insure and maintain - I will take this one any day! Only complaint - it takes 6 screws to come off to get to the oil filter. Really Japan? Is this the best you could come up with? I think this was fixed on newer models, and is not a big deal if you can wrench, but it is a pain when others are a spin on filter. This is my ONLY complaint - this bike is great to own, cheap to customize, and I get comments from Harley and Victory guys about how great my bike looks lowered with hard bags. There is also a website dedicated to these bikes and customizing them. Check it out! Also - buy this bike, stop looking and start riding for less.

This bike looked like brans new...i test drove it and it felt great..and the price was very fair...but I made one mistake....I took my wife with me to pick it up and she said that it looked a little too big for me.....so the seller was nice and said no problem I will relist it...I kick myself for not getting it....but I will be looking again in the spring...Hint to everyone "LEAVE YOUR WIFE AT HOME"

The v-star is a great entry level cruiser for the Harley wanna-be rider. It has good power and an excellent look. There are lots of after market parts to customize the bike with, you can end up with a totally custom ride that looks as good as a $20,000 Harley. The comfort level is excellent with an aftermarket seat. Road handling is great, cornering smooth with no wobbles. Reliability is excellent, I've experienced no mechanical problems whatsoever. Overall a good bargain.

Bought this bike for the wife and daughter to learn to ride motorcycles with, a trainer so to speak. It turned out to be almost new and they like it so much it can stay after the training period and become a daily driver for them. It also was liked so much, that we bought another one just like it in candy purple color, so they both have one to ride. We have found no dislikes about either bike so far. The best thing I found about both bikes is they were just like new in condition and were bought for abought 50 cents on the dollar of the price of a new bike. Have had around a dozen neighbors offer my money bach and a little more if I want to sell. It is not part of this rewiew, but in both instances the sellers were A+++ families to trade with.
