1980 Honda CT: 1980 CT110, only U.S. year NO dual range sub trans

The 1980 CT110 does NOT have the dual range sub transmission.

In my opinion the dual range sub transmission is a nice feature on all of the previous CT90's from mid 1967 to 1979 and all CT110's from 1981 to 1986 (the last year CT's were imported into the U.S.).

If you're looking to go slow, under easy steering control while climbing steep hills by using the dual range sub transmission in LOW range, then the 1980 CT110 is NOT for you. As I'm a bit older now, I like all my other CT's that have the dual range sub transmission.

When I owned my 1980 CT110 I could still climb those hills, however, I just needed to rev up the engine and go fast to keep the rpm's in the power range so I didn't fail climbing that hill. Now days, I prefer to have the engine rpm's up in the power range, yet GO SLOW with the dual range sub transmission in LOW range, often 1st or 2nd gear. I can climb almost anything with the dual range sub transmission in LOW range.

In my opinion all CT90's and CT110's do not enough horsepower for riding on busy (with other vehicles), moderate speed (45-50 mph and above) roads. You should get a bigger bike for that stuff. CT's are excellent at lower speeds around town and dirt roads and trails.

Other than the above, the Honda CT trail bikes are really great for new riders with the non-manual clutch, low center of gravity, step through frame design and overall easy riding characteristics.

Specifically the 1980, CT110 does make a great pit bike or flat terrain riding bike WITHOUT the dual range sub transmission, that's the type of person I sold my 1980 CT110 to.

1980 Honda CT: runs for ever...reasonably priced collectable...

05/29/08
• Overall Satisfaction:
There is NOTHING to dislike about these bikes. Even if they have been siting for 20 + years, they will run if you do the right stuff. We've had 4 & loved them all. We'll get more in the future. They always start & never break if you do basic maintenance. Great for RV's or camping. So light & easy to ride, anyone can learn. Get your's today, the price will just keep gong up on these sweet little collectibles!

Whenever we go by those who have or had them in the past, they get a big smile or give us a thumbs up !

• Overall Satisfaction:
I recently bought this 1980 CT110 after owning a 1969 CT90 this is is a big improvement. This bike starts every time first kick. It has more power and everything on it works. I would have to reccomend this model to anyone looking for a small dependable trail or street bike.
