1972 Honda CB: 1968 - 1973 CB350 Honda two cylinder motorcycles

04/21/09
• Overall Satisfaction:
This is somewhat difficult to write, as a Norton loving motorcyclist.
That said, I can't tell you how much the Honda CB/CL/SL350s impress me.
For the last three WERA race seasons, I have raced a CL350 in the GP350 and GP500 vintage race classes in the Southeast region. This past year, 2008 I achieved the GP500 National Championship.

All the while, I have been acquiring old neglected CB350s and CL350s and restoring them for fellow vintage motorcyclists to ride and enjoy. There is one important thing to note about the CB350 & CL350 Hondas. Together, they represent the most popular "highway worthy" motorcycles ever made. Nearly half a million of them were produced between 1968 and 1973. As such, they are one of the most supported vintage motorcycles in existence today.

Search eBay for CB350 or Cl350 and you will find pages and pages of auctions available. Companies like my race sponsor, Sirius Consolidate Incorporated (SCI), offer everything you need to take a 350 twin "barn find" and make it a smooth running classic road machine.
I resurrect two to four of these machines in my spare time each year. That is the time after racing, race wrenching, BSA newsletter editor duties, work at my full time job, and 8 hours a week of commuting.
If interested in reviving one of these very worthy projects, I recommend buying a Haynes or Clymer manual, finding SCI on eBay, have a few basic tools including a cheap multimeter and start the process.
I have many tips, tricks, and lessons learned on my vintage racing blog
http://videojack.spaces.live.com/
I also have a document that will be available soon on eBay (a work in progress) called "Friends and the Art of Vintage Motorcycle Restoration". Inside you will find tips on restoration and an invitation to race these reliable old bikes. There are also many links for 350 twins on the web. You just can't ask for a better supported antique motorcycle anywhere.

AND, I always recommend a Motorcycle Safety Foundation riders safety course for everyone. Had one already? If it's been more than 10 years, you might consider taking another one.

Hope my review is helpful to you.
Ride careful and ride forever.

The performance and reliability are low because it is sitting in my garage in pieces. I purchased the bike in a nonworking condition. I'm 5'10" and the bike is the perfect size, I can reverse the bike with ease and the reach to the handle bars is relaxed. I am suprized at the quality of the parts on this 40 year old bike, there does not appear to be any flaws with the original craftsman ship. For the most part the only items I have had to buy for it are parts that were broken or removed and never replaced by the previous owner. I bought this bike as a project to keep me busy for the last half of the winter and with no engine or transmition work needing to be done I should have this classic back on the road and burning up tires before the end of spring.

1972 Honda CB: Bought to go back in time when life and motorcycles were simpler

This was a nostalgia buy for me. I had one of these in high school and thought it would be fun to restore on from that era for short drives and parades. It's a winter project so I haven't done much other than take stock of what parts I'll need. For the most part it just needs cleaning and some tuning. I rated the categories at 5 because any vehicle which has survived 40 years and still can hit the road has got to be deemed reliable and a quality product. I recall my original was comfortable, although that was 40 years and a hundred pounds ago. These weren't performance oriented so I know it will meet but not exceed my expectations there. If it never leaves the garage I'll be happy with it, but my plans are to take some trips back in time on it next summer.

1972 Honda CB: Fun bike but need pay lots attention

09/08/09(updated 03/12/10)
• Overall Satisfaction:
Riding this bike is great feeling, and feel very classic. It is good looking, attractive bike. I am just start to learn this bike mechanically, since it is very old bike. That's price you have to pay when you have old classical toy.
Attention: Carb needs clean it properly! After my 1st clean, it just revs very high but it starts at least. Since I have two exact same bike, so I swap the carb. It idles normal, so I clean it again real good. It starts just fine and runs great.
After a long period of riding, needs pay attention to brake ajustment, chain ajustment (because they have great tendence to lose), and some bolts and nuts because old bike vibrating lot)...Well it helps!

1972 Honda CB: 1972 Honda CB 350-four

06/24/09(updated 10/15/11)
• Overall Satisfaction:
This is a great classic bike that I have been looking for since I was much younger. I had one similar to it years ago, and I knew I could ride this bike after being away from motorcycles for 10 years. I had a spinal cord injury (not motorcycle related) and I have a difficult time raising my leg over a larger bike. The seat height is 31.5 in. so this is an easy bike for me to ride. Mine is red which looks great on this bike. The four cylinders give it enough power on take-off for the highway entrance ramp or just for fun and the top speed is respectable enough to run on the highway or in the very hilly city in which I live easily. The one I bought on eBay was lowered and slightly raked out with a bobber-type bicycle seat which is very comfortable, and there was longer handlebars installed so it is easier for me to reach without leaning over to reach them. All in all a very unique looking classic bike, and so far I haven't seen another like it.

1972 Honda CB: My CB750 K2

I've owned a late model Honda before and loved it. Even though this bike is older than I am, it still performs well. There were so many CB750 produced that finding after market parts or replacement parts is easy. Also the model changed very little between the K1-K6 (1971-1976), so parts are interchangeable between these years. Buying a 1971-1976 CB750 gives you the option to customize it to any style you like. Whether it be Cafe Racer, Chopper, Bobber, Rat Bike, etc etc...you're going to be able to finds parts for your bike on eBay.

1972 Honda CB: CB 350

04/06/09
• Overall Satisfaction:
The seller materially misrepresented the motorcycle. The seat was severly scuffed, the left carb leaked badly, the signal lights didn't work, the front fender struts were missing, the title was not from the seller but an earlier owner and was signed in December 2001. I previously owned a 1972 CB 350 that was in good shape and was very pleased with it.
