The Sportster is by far the greatest motorcycle design since the old timers put a motor on a bicycle.
In the early 1950s, the beautiful "K" series Harleys came out and they were probably the bike that defined the shape of Cruisers forever. The Sportster gave the "K" a name, a great name which since the time I was a child was the coolest motorcycle model name I have ever known.
Being a lover of British bikes and the "Cafe" phenomenon the Sportster was cool because it had the Ultimate style engine, V Twin like the Vincent yet the skinny forks and front tires of a Triumph or Norton and that Crazy sound like a BSA.
This American bike, the Sportster is very popular in Europe and probably because it does not look so different than the Sportsters of the 1960s.
Mine had alloy wheels which I got rid of the and installed Spokes.
I have gone to a solo Bobber seat, springs and all, which is the only reason I gave comfort a 4 out of 5.
I am working on making it look older this year with a Retro Paint job as well.
Now to performance.....
No superbike can stop as fast as it accelerates so I have to question why anyone needs a crotch rocket that does 150 mph or even 100.
Cruising about 15 mph over the speed limit is the fastest we need to go and the Sportster does that. I had a V45 Honda and that was way too fast for safety.
Perhaps You are thinking that maybe having that kind of speed potential does not mean you have to use it and to that I say it's like having bottle of Vodka and saying I will only have 1 Screwdriver.....
Sexy it is, and I don't care who you are , if you like motorcycles the Sportster looks good to you and as I said before, it is because the shape is definitive and classic.
If you want a fast Sportster, there is the Buell or the Wakan and others including Harleys own XLR. All great bikes but unnecessary....Sexy is all you need......
Do yourself a favor and Buy yourself a Sportster this year and ride. It will do what no car could ever do for you and I know because I had 5 Porsche's in the last ten years.
Riding a horse is probably the only cooler ride......

Don't normally buy motor vehicles from ebay but liked the description and reviews on this model. It performs very well, has good pick up and is very comfortable to ride. Would recommend it to anyone who wants a Harley but isn't very experienced in riding.

got a great deal ,had to travel about 6 hrs ,but was well worth the trip,i love the bike,i decided to buy a this sportster for various reasons ,,it was well maintained ,in beautiful condition,w great value ,along with super nice people to deal with.Thanks to ebay ,i not only got the bike i was searching for ,but saved money and met some nice people

This Bike is an excellent ride. It shifts a little rough but I believe that may be normal with this model. The Bike runs great and I have had no problem with it.I have noticed that occasionally the speedometer is not always accurate because dust can interfere with it. The OEM seat is nice but hard on the bottom. The seat should be replaced if taking the bike on a long ride.

Wanted a Harley and this one was really nice looking. Handles really well. Response is very quick. Once we put a lower seat on it and my husband lowered the front forks, and put lower back shocks the bike fits a very short woman great.

I'm a new motorcyclist and was looking for an affordable bike as my first. Everyone told me that Harley-Davidson was the way to go, so that's where I began my search. With limited funds to work with I chose the Sportster. I went with the 1200 as opposed to the 883 because I wanted a little more power for when I take my wife or friends out on it. If you're looking for a Harley-Davidson but don't think that you can afford one, think again. The Sportster is an affordable way to get yourself on a Harley. Best part is, you can ride it around for years and just about get your money back when you save up enough to get a bigger Harley. Plus there is a lot you can do with the Sporty. You can add bags, a windshield, chrome. The list goes on. My advice would be to do your homework. Read up on what your looking for and shop around. Go see one and take it for a ride, you won't be sorry.
