This is my first motorcycle and I didn't want to go overboard until I knew what I was getting in to. The Sportster 883 was the bike that kept coming to the surface so that's what I went with. The 883 is perfect for cruising the Ozark Mountains as it handles great on the curves and has more than enough power for those steep inclines. I think it's a phenomenal bike to start with, not to heavy but still has the trademark Harley rumble! I will want to move up in a year or two but it is definitely the best bike to start off with and it holds its value well for that next Harley upgrade.

The 2006 Sportster 883 is a fine Machine is even nicer as upgradable to a 1200 cc and usually faster then than the Stock 1200 and cheaper in cost than buying a new 1200. Since 2004 with the Rubber Mounted Engines don't get the vibration and jarring that the Sportster was famous for. It handles and manuevers well and speed is no object for as far as want to take this. The stock 883 puts out 42 HP but this Motorcycle has a Potential for 100 HP if brave enough to try it. Overall for the price this one is hard to beat..

That is my first Harley Davidson. I love it.I just think that should have more info about it.For instance, the seat hight from the floor.I had to replece the shock absorber to lower the bike so my wife can ride on it. A + +

I like the bike. It had a great deal of water in the gas tank that I did not know about, but now that I cleared that up it has run great. It had a few other issues, but when you buy something used it often comes with a couple challenges. Overall, I would definitely buy one.

My bike was a repo and as such had more than a few things wrong when I got it. But I wasn't misled and had seen the bike so knew what I was getting. I got it for what I considered a very good price and have put a little money in it so far and still have some more to do but I love it and it makes me happy.

I GOT THE BEST DEAL AROUND FOR THIS HARLEY! LOW MILES AND VERY CLEAN. I DID NOT SEE A SCRATCH ON THE BIKE, LIKE IT'S FOR DISPLAY ONLY. I LIKE THE SPORSTER BECAUSE OF THE COMFORT IN IT'S RIDE. THE TRANSACTION WENT SMOOTHLY. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS BIKE TO PEOPLE THAT WOULD LIKE TO GET A HARLEY. IT'S A GREAT STARTER BIKE.

It dos;nt have the vibration that the old ones. Better HP Than the older ones and a smooth ride! It also has the lower profile. The avaalability of options are endless and the feel is fantastic!

I've had to learn to ride all over again, since this brand of motorcycle has a higher center of gravity than most others, and this makes it a little tricky, at first, to maintain in an upright position. It is of the highest quality, with lots of chrome. and everything seems to be built to last several lifetimes. I've also had to learn to be a lot more careful on the accelerator, since the 883 CID engine has a lot of torque for a two-cylinder. For a belt-driven bike, it has a surprising amount of vibration that transfers to the handlebars. This is my first Harley-Davidson, and now I understand why Harley owners wont go back to any other brand.

This is one of the remaining items of US manufacture that is of superior quality and timeless design.
My decision to buy this item was because of my desire to own an example of manufacturing in this country that I could be proud of.
I have been extremely satisfied with the appearance and performance of this product, and would recommend it to anyone.

2006 Harley-Davidson Sportster: Great Bike - Best way to get into a Harley

There is nothing bad about this bike. I have had mine for four years with no mechanical problems of any kind. This bike will take you across the country easily when properly equipped with saddle bags, highway bars, windshield, luggage rack and sissy bar. I put a custom seat from Mustang on it for added comfort, but that is common in all bikes, the seats are not as good as you want. Still, the original was not bad. People will call it a girl's bike. Get used to it as you pull away from them at traffic lights. The power to weight ration is hard to beat. I am 5' 10" and 160 so the highway bars ended up being important on long rides, so take that into consideration. But don't wait too long. Just buy the bike and get out on the highway.
