What it's Worth - Price Range Information
Just Sold on eBay Motors
The Just Sold on eBay Motors price range represents the lowest and highest completed sale price for this vehicle on eBay Motors within the last 90 days.
Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

The fxr is harleys version of a sport bike.Eric Buell designed this frame and was one of the last frame that was hand jigged by the factory. There quite of few versions of the fxr. Earlier models had 35 mm front ends with 10 inch dual brakes newer models have 39 mm front ends with 11 inch single brake. These motorcycles are the best handeling and lightest big twin harley ever made. They are the prefered motorcycle of most outlaw bikers due to power to weight ratio and comfort for long rides. Best over motorcycle for 2 up riding, hot rodding and everyday rider.

1982 Harley-Davidson Dyna / FXR: A shovel with a chain

The FXR/FXRS Super Glide® II was Harley's first post-AMF design - in a few years it would sport the new Evo motor, a beefier front end, and a belt drive. But in '82 it was the last incarnation of the 81.6" Shovelhead with reduced compression to burn anything you might put in the tank, and an oil consumption package. This was coupled to a new five-speed tranny w/shorter shift linkage for more aggressive shifting. All mounted to the frame utilizing Harley's Tri-mount rubber-isolation system. The next year's bikes would get the new belt drive, but these have chains.

The 19" front wheel was mounted between a 39mm narrow-glide front end, and suspended on stiff Showa forks with a 32 degree of rake. Stiff rear shocks were mounted to the end of the swing arm, vice in the middle as was done on other FX models. Total wheelbase was 64.7". Dual 10" disk brakes on the front, and a single 11.5" rear disk provided stopping power. New master cylinders improved braking performance.

Eric Buell is credited with leading the design and many believe the FXR is the best handling bike Harley built.

Also debuting in 82 is the FXRS Low Glide with cast wheels, contrasting tank panels, stepped seat, sissy bar and polished covers.

Cons: It's a Shovel and they often mark their spot. Motor Company support is all but gone, and aftermarket support is waning. Some feel the FXR battery location is a PITA. Everyone hates the horn location and performance. The early FXR oil filter location under the transmission is difficult to get at, but at least it never dumps oil on the bike while being changed. In it's day, it took lots of hits for the external rear shocks making it look too much like a Japanese bike, and earning it the nick "Ugly Glide."

Pros: Your getting the best Shovelhead engine Harley made, on the best frame they ever designed. It's a shovel with a chain. It rides great, and it embodies the spirit of the Eagle flying alone. The gods all ride FXRs.
