2002 Suzuki Bandit: The Worst Purchase and Experience Ever on eBay!!!

07/03/07
• Overall Satisfaction:
Where do I begin?

Well, the motorcycle was advertised as "showroom condition" in the auction, but it was anything but that!

I cost me over $700.00 to make things right with this "showroom condition" motorcycle. The seller still owes me just over $136.00 to make it right and he will not pay it. I spent over $4,500.00 on this bike, drove 11 hours each way to get it, and I took them at their word. What a HUGE mistake that was!
I am in the process of retracting my good feedback for this seller. I want the public to know what kind of a crook these people are!

I can safely say that I WILL NEVER, EVER buy another vehicle through eBay. By the way, eBay and PayPal has sucked at helping me to recover my lost money. I guess I shouldn't expect as much out of two companies that won't even allow you to speak to a real person.

I'm glad you're so...successful. Please, by all means continue hiding behind your email submissions. I guess you couldn't find a colder way to deal with people.

Thanks so...much!

2001 Suzuki Bandit: 2001 Suzuki Bandit 1200S

The 2001 Suzuki Bandit
Performance The 1200 Bandit Does it all well,Just nothing Great.
The Front brakes are excellent, the rear brakes are Good.
The Wind screen does a OK job.,
Comfort on the Bandit is excellent to me it ranks up there with any sport/touring bike.
Handling on the Bandit is great, and can keep up with the sportier bikes in the corners.
Quality is good, what you would expect on a bike of this type in the price range.
Headlamps on the Bandit are excellent.
The PROBLEM with the 2001 1200s Bandit is the Pistons. Suzuki goofed and drilled the holes behind the oil ring to large, resulting in Oil burning. Please study up on this, and ask questions.

Just a Note not all of them report oil consumption.

I still have the bike. I changed wind screen, looks better and helps with wind buffet. I went up 2 teeth on the rear sprocket, helped to take off with a passenger. jetted Carbs, advanced timing 5 degrees. with sticky tires she is an animal. Cruise all day long like a scooter, no problems. When you open it up HANG ON!

2003 Suzuki Bandit: Best bike for the money PERIOD

Can't go wrong ! a bargain bike, will outlast most others, (100,000 miles easy to do) gsxr 1100 engine. bored to 1200 and cammed for torque.Built like a rock. great handling, brakes, and all day comfort. Not a full on Race replica-- GSXR,or R-1 but will out run most riders on those bikes anywhere with a good rider, yet melt away the miles cruising at 100 mph , That is if you can LOL! A old world UJM with all the modern touches. I Raced afm and ama for 12 years, two time regional champ and been riding since 13, have owned just about everything, british, japanese, american ,italian, and german with a side car! this is the best all-around bike i've owned. next closest is a tie between my 1983 gs 1100 and a Bmw RS1000. The Harley superglide sport looked nice but thats it. The Ducati cost an arm and a leg to buy and MAINTAIN!,Well any way you can buy one of these for pocket change and drive anwhere, all the time, and never have a problem. I Sold my 99 model Bandit 1200 with 92,400 miles to get a truck two years. This is the only bike I have bought TWO of, Anyway Nuff said ! Ride safe !!!!

1996 Suzuki Bandit: Bike Buy

I was looking for an inexpensive bike that would be reliable and easy to learn on. This bike is exactly what I wanted, it needed some minor tuning up from sitting and a few cosmetic issues (which I knew before I bought it) but is just what I was looking for and will be something I won't want to immediately upgrade from once I'm comfortable riding.

This is my second one bought off of e-bay. Both bikes were a steal for price especially in comparison of other bikes of even lesser engine size. This bike is an under-rated gem. first one I bought in 2006 I was coerced by my Suzuki salesman to trade in for a new 2008 Busa. after about 2 months realized how good bike actually was. Other then name and fancy style of Hyabusa wished I saved all that money and kept my bike. 18 months later Busa was stolen (luckily it was fully insured) and even though it hurt, immediately knew I wanted this bike again. So I bought another one. In my opinion this bike is the best bike for the buck on the market. other then basic maintenance haven't had any major problems with either bike. Very fast bikes. being that they are sport-cruisers fancy enough to get respect from sport bikes (especially if front fairing are installed) yet comfortable enough for long highway rides. What other 1200cc 2001 bike can you buy for less then $2,500. I love my Bandit and you will too

1991 Suzuki Bandit: You can tell a GSF400 owner by the bugs on their teeth!

07/19/10
• Overall Satisfaction:
• Performance:
• Reliability:
• Comfort:
• Quality and Craftsmanship:
The Bandit GSF400 range is one of those smaller bikes with almost infinite grin factor with enough power to get your adrenaline flowing and yet, enough to get you from A to B in safety. They thrive on revs with a red-line set at 14,000rpm!. Max torque of 54 BHP at 11,000 and a 0-60 in a shade under 4 seconds and a top speed reviewed at 116 mph on the track. The Engine is a 398cc water-cooled inline 4 cylinder 4 stroke.
The Ltd version had twin Disks up front while the standard has a perfectly adequate single.
The only real problem area are the carbs. The Mikuni BST 31 and 32's can be VERY fussy on this bike and yet, once cleaned, set up and not allowed to sit with old gas in them, are as good as any other bike. The "problem" exists in the "Slow circuit" which is involved in start and idle. Ideal idle speed is about 1300-1400 Rpm. A jet replacement kit is a good choice and while the carbs are apart, make sure the float height is correct at 14mm. The engine is based on the GSXR400 and there MAY be some interchangeable parts. They are quite rare now in complete condition but there seems to be a good spare parts market out there including a well worth it, workshop manual. Brake pads are shared with several other current Suzuki models!.
These "little" bikes are perfect for both the average height rider and the shorter in statue with about a 30" seat height.

1996 Suzuki Bandit: Great beginner bike

03/10/10

• Quality and Craftsmanship:
This was my first bike. owned it for 2 years. The 1st year was great. I could not have asked for a better bike. As one might say, "I earned my wings with this bike. It was always reliable. I never had an unplanned stop at the shop. The handling was great for the price-point. It carved corners as quick as I knew how or dared to go. For the $$$, it is a great bike. Maintenance cost were low for a bike too.
It was not without problems. After a year of riding in the clouds I began to come to know the truth. Better bikes exist. I was unhappy with the handle-bar vibration. This is not a touring bike. I rode 235miles a couple times and decided a couple was all I wanted. I also slowly began to understand it was not a great hugh-speed canyon carver. I reached its handling limits.
So in the end I gifted it to my brother, who had not yet owned a motorcycle. He still has it after 10 years. I still have fond memories of that first Bandit.

1996 Suzuki Bandit: 96 gsf(bandit)600

09/24/09
• Overall Satisfaction:
I have owned a total of four bikes in my lifetime and Have driven well over 3 years and this is my favorite bike and I don't ever want to get rid of it. I got the 600 for the simple reason that it is lighter, which inturn makes it more responsive to turning, and all over much more nimble. The 600 or at least mine has 6 gears instead of 5. My bike has been modified with a full exhaust upgrade, larger jets, upgraded chain and sprokets and pod airfilters, along with the numorus body upgrades.

I must say the 600 model is very powerful and almost threw me the first time I drove it, The bike is really geared for take off over topend like alot of the sporty bikes which lends itself perfectly to driving around town, that being said this bike is my daily driver, and If your looking for a bike to drive more than every now and then this bike is perfect. I chose it because of Its comfort (after all it is classified as a sport tourer), Its performance (the bike is a beast, I once did a burn out when shifting gears at 40mph that has to say something about this bike, and is extremely reliable, the only time this bike has ever been out of comission was when I was rebuilding the carbs) and price, this isn't the most popular bike so damand for it isn't huge oddly enought because it blows alot of the bikes I've been on out of the water.

Deffinatly don't even think twice about this bike only upgrades that are a must are the tires get a nice set of touring tires that are good for preforming in rain, and the seat, its not really a nessesity but you'll enjoy it that much more(it tends to push you toward the gas tank over time, Corbin makes an awsome replacement but you can just as well have the seat redone to your specs at an upulstery shop for much less)
