2002 Harley-Davidson VRSC: Prices are coming down - everyone should get one

03/22/07
• Overall Satisfaction:
A unique looking bike that gets attention everywhere it takes you. I'm certainly not selling mine. Had it for a while and I have to say it is top notch quality. Very smooth engine and transmission. Very quick with loads of torque. The stock Liquid cooled V2 has more then enough torque/hp for anyone. The forward controls make the seating position very comfortable for most situations. My only complaint is the protruding exhaust on the right side that just happens to be where your leg should be when stopped at the light. Gets a little hot. Handling is surprisingly good for such a long bike also. Perfect power cruiser for sport bike folks wanting to try something different. Definitely recommended.

2004 Harley-Davidson VRSC: Harley-Davidson VRSC

04/15/07
• Overall Satisfaction:
The VROD runs like no other harley davidson, it has more power and performance and it manuvers like the jap bikes and it's a harley. Long trips were hard on me and my wife, I'm 6'2 and couldn't get real comfortable on long rides and the rear seat is small for her, I perfer my ultra for that. I have had more fun on the vrod than any other harley I have owned and would never sell it, but my ultra has it's place aswell, long trips. mike

I got a low miles Harley Davidson V-ROD with minor chrome damage from salt air for a very decent price! I drove four hours to pick it up instead of shipping it and have enjoyed every weekend sense! I got my mid-life crisis started early and for a few dollars less by doing my research on ebay! P.S. DONT WAIT TILL SPRING!!!

I bought my V-Rod as my first bike since I was young 3 yrs ago. I have loved the performance, styling, sound, and way it dares you to rev it and punch through the lower gears. It is well built and has a few design quirks like any bike. The gas tank is about 1/2 as big as I wish it was, but they used every square inch on the thing already. It uses fuel like a big engine does and I wouldn't say it's the greatest distance rider, but it is great for short & intermediate trips. Everyone who ses it wants a ride and they get initiated into a quick ride on a small rear area if they dare. There aren't as many HD custom accessories as I would have liked to see but the aftermarket items I have found have made mine pretty custom. Overall a fun bike for those who aren't thinking distance riding but want a fast ride without bending over your ankles!

Great product. Bought a 2012 V-rod to go with it. Power to spare and very easy to handle. Easy to back up and plenty of room for a passenger. Plenty of comfort for the long ride too.

2003 Harley-Davidson VRSC: 2003 HD VRSCA V-Rod

I have owned 2 V-Rod VRSCA’s. My present is a custom 2003 with CSR racing pipes and a Power Commander V with special mapping thanks to V-Rod experts at V-Mod. The Power Commander V CSR pipes combination take the lower end lag out of the bike and it is quite snappy and overall wicked fast. If you’re looking for a long distance cruiser that lulls you to sleep with comfort, then this bike is not for you. Even a very comfortable seat on a V-Rod will make a 300 mile day very long. If you’re looking for race track corning ability again look at one of the uncomfortable sport bike for that. But if you really want a sport/touring bike with great looks and killer performance I think the V-Rod would top the list. If you are looking for great low speed stability I would look at the heritage soft tail. My main comment about the overall stability of the bike would be with solid wheels and the lighter weight the bike might feel a little unstable to some in windy conditions or on the highway catching turbulence of other vehicles. My personal recommendation is putting a touring windshield on will help with the stability feeling. In my opinion this is just a comfort factor and the bike really is stable, now when you get up to 100 on a cruiser they feel very unstable, but this is where a V-Rod feels most at home at.

2004 Harley-Davidson VRSC: Great motorcycle

The V-ROD is a great motorcycle to cruise around town and for short trips. I wouldn't go on long ride with it but I guess I could if I wanted to. Very powerful engine so is the fuel consumption. A small tank makes the stops to the pump quite frequent. That doesn't bother me, this is exactly why I bought a V-ROD in the first place; look, power, pleasure to ride and it's awesome sound!

2006 Harley-Davidson VRSC: VRSC Nightrod

This isn't one of Harley's finest efforts. While the engine is monstrous (for a HD) and the fit and finish is very, very good, the bike's design shortcomings make it wise to look elsewhere for a fast, stylish and aggressive ride. At 5-foot-9, it's an extremely long stretch for me to reach the forward mounted controls and the "clam shell" riding position must have been invented by the Marquis de Sade. (And don't get me wrong, I ride and race sportbikes). It also induces a fear factor - at 110 mph (indicated) my feet literally blew off the pegs, which is downright dangerous. That was enough for me to rule out this cycle. For the record, there is a fix available - a different (and uncomfy) seat that pushes you forward and a control set to move everything closer in. These don't work so well, either. Also, the engine heat and muffler literally cooks your leg.
Bottomline: The bike goes like stink, has love it or loathe it looks, handles well, but is fatally flawed. There's a reason Harley-Davidson is having trouble selling these machines - and it isn't because the typical HOG owner is stuck in the 1950s.
