2004 Harley-Davidson Sportster

Looking for a Harley and found one in my home town! An 04 sportster custom with an 05 wide glide front end on it. Also a 1200 conversion kit on it, mustang seat and a few other mods. I have put 2500 miles on it since buying and no problems. Exactly as described at a price well under what others with no shipping. What more could you want. I drive it every day to work and am happy with the bike.

I like too much the motorcycles so I decided to buy a Harley davidson sportster.

I purchased this bike for my wife. I have to thank Scott Smith (Scottsbest) of Lynnville, Tenn for the deal on this pristine '04 Sportster with only 2900 miles on it. With stock pipes on this bike, it's hard to get excited about it. Put a good loud set of Vance and Hines on and this little scoot will come alive! It runs and sounds like a Harley should. The '04 model Sportster and newer have the rubber mounted engines that do a fantastic job of dampening the vibration. This ain't your Daddy's Sportster. It is a modern version of a classic style that will be in our family for a long time. I ride a '98 Heritage Softail, last of the Evo's, and it is still looking good and going strong. I don't have a justifiable reason to part with it. It is just too damn good of a bike. I am totally happy with Harley-Davidson, period.

It's a Harley, what more needs ot be said? A real American motorcycle. Plenty of power, responsive handling, and that unmistakable Harley Davidson sound. What isn't there to love?

The 2004 Sportster 1200XL is a great motorcycle and the first year of many improvements to the sportster line. The rubber engine mounts add a much smoother ride experience. I have noticed a lot of top end engine clatter which is more pronounced on engine braking. This top end noise is more apparent with the stock exhaust and I am expecting it to be less noticeable once I put on aftermarket pipes. One downfall of this engine and model is that the owner manual suggests the use of premium fuel. It supposedly gets 52 miles to the gallon highway and has a 4.5 gallon tank. After carb modification and pipes I'm expecting this to earn its place as a weekend warrior and not so much as a savior in the rising gas prices, but them again most don't buy Harleys for that reason anyway.

I bought this bike after extensive research, comparing a few different Harley models. I decided to buy it because I've always wanted a Harley and it was an affordable choice that I could fit into my budget.
I love the looks of the newer Sportsters with the large tank. This one is an XL1200C, which has the chrome strip down the center of the gas tank, giving it a classic look as well as the appearance of a bigger bike. My bike has Smoky Gold and Vivid Black paint, which is absolutely gorgeous.
One other thing I love about this bike is that it's FAST!
I've spent about $400. on extras, making the bike "mine", but thanks to getting a great price on Ebay, I am still way ahead.
My only dislikes about the bike are no tachometer or fuel gauge, but neither of these would make me reconsider the purchase if I had to do it again.
I've had to replace the ignition coil, which is rare for a bike with relatively low mileage. That's the only problem I've encountered so far.
Overall, I am very impressed with the bike and would recommend it to anyone looking to purchase a Harley for a very reasonable price.
