What it's Worth - Price Range Information
Just Sold on eBay Motors
The Just Sold on eBay Motors price range represents the lowest and highest completed sale price for this vehicle on eBay Motors within the last 90 days.
Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value Range assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

What can you say about a high performance 70 Challenger. It is what it is. The car was everything Pete said it was and he did everything he said he would do including handing the shipping with a good carrier. Had lots of fun with my lady in Miami.

the owner seemed like a good guy and said he would meet me 1/2 way with car on trailer. i brought cash and met him at I75and I-10 florida. this car was advertised as having rebuild engine ,trans and driveshaft was new. car turned out to have a spun bearing in the engine, no oil preasure, and would only start twice and then had to be winched onto his trailer.i had paid his son already(seller did not show up), and son was great. he immediatly called his dad and he offered the car to me for $1000.00 less, when i declined, the son gave me back all my money including $100.00 gas money i had given him. i tried to leave impartial(not bad)feedback but ebay did not let me.kind of a wasted day. i did however buy a 68 road runner the following week and i am super pleased with that deal. dave

If you like muscle cars then the challenger is a great one to have. I have had Pontiacs, Fords, and have driven Chevy's and out of all the pony cars I believe that the Dodge Challenger out performs them all when compared apples to apples. Handling is great, engines have been very dependable. The looks of one is distinct. You do not see many of them on the road.

1972 Dodge Challenger: This particular 1972 Challenger wasn't a good one.

This review is not a knock on first generation Challengers as a whole, but more of a review of this specific 1972 Challenger I purchased on eBay this year. Buyers need to beware of cars that look great in pictures and do an inspection before bidding no matter what. The Challenger I bought looked awesome in the pictures, but in person...Yuck! The panel gaps were all over the place, a screw was literally hanging out of one body panel gap, forever trapped inside the front fender, and there were bondo cracks all over the place that would never be visible in pictures. This car was either totally wrecked at one time or pieced together from 2 or 3 other junk cars, but it sure looked nice in the pictures!

ALWAYS inspect the car before you bid. In this case the seller assured me over and over what a straight car this was, but in the end I made the decision to bid and I lost a $500 deposit that I could have easily kept if I'd just inspected the car before clicking the mouse and placing a bid.

If a seller won't allow you a pre-bid inspection, run away! There's probably a reason for that.

On top of the horrible body the car wouldn't run for more than 5 seconds at a time, stalling immediately after you took your foot off the gas. It never ven ran long enough to even test drive it!

"Buyer Beware" is never more true than with old cars. In this case the Seller was either a liar or just not very knowledgable about cars. Even if you have a seller with totally honest intentions the truth is they just might not know much about cars.

As far as endorsing a first generation Challenger I love them, as far as this particular Challenger it probably should have been recycled into a washing machine or some soda cans years ago, then again given all the bondo maybe there wasn't enough metal left.

1971 Dodge Challenger: why feed back don't mean as much as it could or should

I believe that the buyer should get feed back before he can leave feed back, I'll tell you why. Good feed back can be bought and there for it is false feed back. I recently bought a car that was not misrepresented, but it was grossly under represented, by a seller with 100% feed back. The seller should not have got good feed back from me, but he did. I paid $18,000 for a car that I believe would have sold for about $12,000 to $14,000 if properly represented, or $10,000 to $12,000 at a normal auto auction with a visual up close inspection. He probably got an extra 4 or $5,000 by representing it the way he did, with his feed back. All it took from him was $400 "to fix the transmission that he said worked fine" to get good feed back for a car that should not have got good feed back. I paid about $4000 extra, but got $400 back, and we both got good feed back for a bad experience. I will never make an automobile purchase on ebay again. 100% feed back don't mean what it should.

1970 Dodge Challenger: 1970 Challenger R/T - Great American Muscle Car

I have a 1970 Challenger R/T SE. It's a 38 year old car and is a joy bringing back to it's former glory. Mopar was overlooked for many years but have made a great come back in recent years. You can go to car shows and will see numerous GM models but few Challengers and Cudas'. When I take the car out to get gas everybody slows down to look and the response from onlookers is a great feeling. Everyone wants to know about the car and all say they would love to have one. With the rebirth of the Challenger in 2008 these cars will only grow in popularity and value. The Challenger came with many motor configurations and when equipped with a bigblock, 4 speed, and dana 60 differential it was ready for the dragstrip. If you want a car that turns heads everywhere it goes then the Challenger is a must hve. If you can find one that is. Love the car and glad I finally found one. I look forward to years of fun and the investment will only grow.

1970 Dodge Challenger: Great Pony Car

Had a 70 Convert for many years. Try to find one that has not been modified much, and you will be happier. Mine was a 340 with the four speed, very rare but a perfect balance. Today you would buy a car like this to cruise, but if you ever drive it hard it can take it.
First the bad points, yes there are some. In the Convertables check for any rust at the base of the top well. This is important, because the water can sit at the point where the rear subframe joins the pan, and weaken the chassis. Also the brakes. Many of these 70s came from the factory with non power drum brakes. Even mine which could top 140, had manual drums all around. If you get one like this, set the front brakes asside, they may be needed someday as origional equipment parts, and get the brakes from the next year Challenger, or Cuda. By then I think they all had discs up front.
Most 70s didn't have a rear sway bar, these are worth the time. After market bars are easy to find, at around $150, and will take you a couple hours in the driveway to install.
Now the good stuff. Any Challenger from slant six to HEMI is a head turner any time you take it out. Be prepaired to spend time talking cars to the guys, and Challenger are probably the best chick magnet this side of a Viper.
On a back road, there's nothing like a Challenger. The V/8 winding down a straight, then throwing the car into a turn, and having it go right where you point it, is a great feeling, not to be missed.
A lot of Challengers have been used in movies and TV, they don't have a bad angle.
The other good thing is that under the skin, it's really just a Dodge. That is to say, very reliable, and when the time comes that something does break, parts are a wrecking yard, or parts store away.
One last comment on shopping for a Challenger. Don't bother buying a collectors car to drive to work, if your looking for a nice car, but will be driving it. Think about saving a bunch of cash up front, even to the point of getting a non runner, and build just what you want.
The quckest way to a 360 crate motor powered car with A/C and modern seats and tunes, may be to build it yourself.

This is one of the high points of automotive design and performance, coming at the tail-end of the classic car era. A little bit cheaper to buy than a '70 but with most of the same options, they make for great cars to restore and own. I personally like the grill and tail lights more than the '71. Other than that, they are about equal. Go for disc brakes and you have yourself a great cruiser or driver... and remember they were built for fun, so don't just stick them in the garage and look at them!
