What it's Worth - Price Range Information
Just Sold on eBay Motors
The Just Sold on eBay Motors price range represents the lowest and highest completed sale price for this vehicle on eBay Motors within the last 90 days.
Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value Range assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

I've had my Mountaineer for two months now and to date, have found nothing to report as a fault. I've had all brands and styles of vehicles, over 60 total, from economy to luxury, from tiny cars to huge trucks. I have never owned a vehicle that is so versatile, so luxurious, so convenient and so comfortable. In all reports I've read on the Mountaineer, about the biggest complaint I've seen was on mileage. When you get a vehicle this size and with the pulling capacity it has, one would be silly to expect good mileage. It does fair inn this respect and I have no complaints. I HIGHLY recommend this SUPERB vehicle to anyone needing this type transportation.

This is a great truck for the "weekend warrior" out there that likes to head to the northwoods, fishing, canoeing, camping and hunting. Need a nice truck with excellent towing capabilities.....this is the truck. Comes with the 5.0L V-8 that is the same motor that came in the "beefed up" Mustangs and let me tell you....this motor packs a punch. Lots of room for the family. Great layout for the controls. All around great SUV.

This 2006 truck rides better than many cars; very quiet, very little body roll, and has all the latest safety features. I have owned two Explorers previously and put an average 180,000 miles on them, so I am hoping for the same reliability from its twin the mountaineer. The fit and finish of this truck is better than Explorer. The truck feels solid. I do hate that they welded a 1 1/4" hitch to the frame as I have to add a 2" hitch under it and it will not look as neat. This setup with the standard 355 ratio gears previously towed my boat and trailer rig with no problems. Upgrading to 373 gears and a engine cooler is a low cost job if mountain towing. So I would look for the best price and do get a 2006 or newer truck for the redesigned frame and improved ride. You can get the truck with the factory towing and 2" hitch but this was the most truck for the price at the time. Trailer prep with 1 1/4" hitch is not the same as trailer tow and many dealers misrepresent the two so be aware. Good hunting oh and do check Carfacts and/or autocheck car reports. You have 30 days under ebay policy to file a claim for excessive undisclosed engine and train repairs or fraud. So do get the vehicle checked out by a mechanic ASAP.

Haven't had this long - just a month now, but it is great so far. Third row and DVD player with wireless headphones is great for the family and friends. Heated leather, sunroof, all wheel drive and 6 disc changer are excellent amenities for the driver and passenger. After we got it and found out about the bonus back-up sensors and flex fuel option we were all the more impressed. Haven't really found anything yet to be unhappy about, if I had to complain about something, I'd say I can hear too much road noise from the passenger door area. Very happy with the deal we got hear on Ebay - my brother is now looking for something similar.

P.S. - Getting 13.8 MPG in the city with regular fuel - definitely less MPG with flex E85, I think it was about 12 or 13 MPG on the highway.

Some people might question the logic of buying an 8 year old vehicle but with the price of new ones, used simply makes more sense. The 1995 - 2001 Explorer / Mountaineer is the 2nd generation and as a result, some potential buyers opt to go for the newer styling of the 2002+ models - different body style and some improvements but overall, the 2nd generation is pretty bullet-proof if you look at the forums and see what experience others have had with them. The 5.0L engine is a work horse and very reliable. I was a little worried about gas mileage based on other reports but if you are sane in your driving habits, it is not bad. I've been averaging a tad better than 16.5 around town which is better than what I did get on my F-150 XLT with the 4.2L V6.

There are some known issues with the truck and most are covered in detail on the forums that cater to the Explorer and the Mountaineer along with simple, cost effective fixes for them. The truck is extremely comfortable with the leather interior - the family really likes to ride in it (unlike my F150).

Overall, for what you can get one for, you can't go wrong. I was able to find one with under 56,000 miles and based on what others report, it is just getting broken in. No payments and a dependable truck . . . . a great combination!

I have had this vehicle since new. Has 46000 trouble free miles on it. 5.0 v8 engine with AWD. Average 17-20mpg. Luxury suv with a great ride and very dependible. The MACH SOUND SYSTEM IS FANTASTIC. The All Wheel Drive is a great asset to the vehicle.Works great in snow.

Seller said there was nothing wrong with this car. Yet it failed emissions testing 3 days before he posted it and required a new transmission. Shame on me for trusting him but I wouldn't purchase any of his products if I were you. I'm sure there's something wrong with them!!!!!!
