What it's Worth - Price Range Information
Just Sold on eBay Motors
The Just Sold on eBay Motors price range represents the lowest and highest completed sale price for this vehicle on eBay Motors within the last 90 days.
Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value Range assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

1999 Mercury Grand Marquis: Grand Marquis has outperformed our highest expectations

We needed to replace our old car, and bought a used 99 Grand Marquis (w 40,000 miles on it) on ebay 2 years ago, sight unseen, because it was relatively inexpensive. It is a sound well-built car, seats 6 comfortably. It is wonderful on the highway, holds the road and delivers 30mpg on the interstate, 20-22 in town. This is my first Ford/Mercury. The trunk is huge, and can carry all our camping stuff for 2 parents and 3 adult kids. Two of my kids bought Crown Vics (sister car to the Grand Marquis) after our experience with this car, and they are just as good. If you want a large comfortable used car that holds on to its quality, I recommend the Grand Marquis.

1989 Mercury Grand Marquis: A Great Family CAR and Fun to Drive!

We have owned four of these estate wagons over the last 20 years. They are excellent cars and fun to drive. Cheap to repair except if the A/C goes bad. We bought them with high mileage each time and drove them til they dropped (electrical problems became costly). The kids had the greatest time in them. I was in an accident with one of the wagons and had the entire front end torn off including the bumpber while on vacation in Florida. It still worked and I drove it (no headlights working) all the way back to Massachusetts and it ran perfect. This car is a tank and safe to drive. The only draw back was the A/C going bad which I just have to have in a car. So after the 4th wagon, we bought a car and mini van. Also, the radiator/cooling system needs to be upgraded. We did that in one of wagons which helped the car function better all-around. Because the car is electric everything, make sure you have a upgraded battery in it too. We bought a mini van three years ago and I can't stand the thing. Compared to the estate wagon, it is a piece of junk and gets worse MPG.

This was a great buy for the $$$. I have had to do some repairs to it nothing too major and detail the inside. The cadillac converter is probably the biggest thing that had to get fixed other than that just minor things like a tune up. I would say for the $$ I got a really good deal. The car drives great and I use it as my work vehicle so I am always driving it. I can't believe I found this deal on Ebay. It took some searching and waiting but I found my perfect car that fit in my budget.

The Mercury Grand Marquis is a full-size rear-wheel drive sedan sold by the Mercury division of the Ford Motor Company and manufactured at the St. Thomas Assembly Plant in Canada. It was also built in St. Louis, Missouri until 1985. The Grand Marquis, Mercury's near-luxury flagship sedan, is essentially the retail market version of the Ford Crown Victoria. Currently, the Grand Marquis is separated into GS (base) and LS (deluxe) trim-level variations. Mercury has always been marketed as a step above the Ford brand and has historically been more luxury-oriented; an appropriate analogy would be Mercury is to Ford as Buick is Chevrolet. However, performance is not overlooked. Mercury has used the Grand Marquis' standard V8 engine as a selling point (as other near-luxury cars with V8 engines standard or even as an option cost thousands of dollars more). Other selling points include the immense cargo space of the trunk and the "traditional" 6-passenger seating (otherwise only available on the Lincoln Town Car).
The Grand Marquis was redesigned for 1998, with a new front and rear fascia, grille, hood, bumpers, wheels, lights, and mirrors.[1] Although it bears a resemblance to the older model, every body panel was changed besides the doors and roof. It also got some small interior changes, and more optional features. A number of mechanical changes were also made. A fail-safe cooling system with a dual speed electric fan was put in place, along with a coil-on-plug ignition system. Larger dual piston brake calipers were added to the front, requiring 16 inch wheels to be standard.[1] A Watt's linkage was added to the rear suspension. Fuel lines were moved to the passenger side frame rail. A coded ignition key (known as Passive Anti-Theft System, or "PATS") system was introduced and a 72 amp/hour battery replaced the previous 58. Other minor changes included a redesigned engine cover and the power steering fluid reservoir being moved to the front of the engine.

2003 changes
The Grand Marquis received a facelift and new rear fascia, along with refreshed interior door panels (including door handles and power window/power lock control switches) and an optional overhead console (standard on the LS Series). On GS models, the B-pillar trim was now painted body-color. However the real changes were under the skin, with the second generation of the Panther platform. An all-new hydroformed frame was engineered, rack and pinion steering replaced the old recirculating ball system, and the front and rear suspension, as well as the brakes, were redesigned. An engine knock sensor was made standard along with a six-quart (5.7 L) oil pan (20% larger than the 2002 model). The wheels were redesigned with a high positive offset. A quiet EBD brake booster with a mechanical panic assist system was added. Other changes included an intake manifold with aluminum water crossover and an electronic returnless fuel system. Side airbags were also made available and a dual media (cassette/CD) player made standard. More minor changes included a redesigned engine cover with a chrome V8 logo, the oil fill was moved to the passenger valve cover and the power steering fluid reservoir moved to the radiator surround (previously on the front of the engine). A shoulder belt was put into place for the rear middle passenger and a valet key was made standard.

The Grand Marquis shares the same "Panther" platform as the Ford Crown Victori

I really love my 2000 Grand Marquis. I recently took a 900 mile trip in the car and it was large enough that the four of us had plenty of room for ourselves and our luggage. It got remarkable fuel economy for such a large car. One that trip I got an average of 24 miles to the gallon. Around town I get about 21 miles to the gallon. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone who regularly travels. The ride is very smooth and the seats are comfortable enough for long rides.

I had long been looking for a Mercury Grand Marquis of this vintage. The seller description sounded very good and he presented as a very forthright and honest individual. The car, however, did not live up to expectations (or the description). The AC was not functioning properly and the power steering pump needed replacing. The car doesn't look seventeen years old -- the exterior finish is excellent as is the interior. Another case, I guess, of caveat emptor. I am just a bit leary now of purchasing a car on ebay "sight unseen" so-to-speak.

Classic styling I like. Very very nice ride. Rides bigger than it is. 2nd one I've owned and will keep buying. Very affordable luxury. Great fuel mileage for a large car..getting 20-25 anywhere. Everyone who rides in it comments on how much they like it. Owned one for last 10 yrs. and am in my 40's...not just for retired folks. Very confident in it's safety for my young children. Very very satisfied.

It is a great car with lots of power. has a tendency to really slame you back in the seat when you hit the gas. Only thing i do not like is the fact it eats so much fuel. If this car came in a hydrogen fuel cell model it would be even better.
