The fit and finish of the Lexus is what you would expect in a top of the line Lexus. All details are perfect. And, after a month, and after driving the car across the US during a vacation, I'm still discovering new features the car offers its lucky owner.

The Lexus 430 LS offers three suspension choices; regular, power and snow, that with a flick of a switch electronically adapts to whatever weather or road conditions you encounter.

The 4.3 ltr. 24 valve, 290 HP V-8 is flawless and provides all the power you'd ever need, from 40 mph to 80...right now. The engine is perfectly mated to a silky smooth 6 speed automatic transmission that also offers the option of manually selecting 2nd through 6th gear for either mountain or performance driving.

From the heated rear seats to the heated AND air conditioned front seats with every imaginable adjustment including upper and lower lumbar supports if you can't get comfortable in the Lexus, you are not trying!

In over 5000 miles, I've averaged 25.4 miles per gallon. The ONLY issue is that the high compression Lexus V-8 requires premium fuel. But for a big car, with big comfort and big time performance, the way I look at it, the mileage and performance more than makes up for the premium fuel requirement.

It's safe too. There are numerous air bags and side air bag curtains, and structural safety has been designed into this great automobile.

The quality and craftsmanship, not to mention the "when you put your foot down on the accelerator" performance, will take your breath away. It's fun.

UPDATE: I've now driven this car 12,000 miles and around town, it's getting 27.3 mpg which I think is outstanding for a large, powerful sedan like the LS 430. I took it into the Lexus dealer for service and although I considered the car perfect, they called and Lexus wanted to install a brand new transmission at no charge to me (a $9,000+ item) because my car's VIN was in a group that Lexus had found leaking transmission seals. My car was not leaking a drop but the dealer provided me another Lexus for a week (for free), while they ordered and installed the new transmission. Buy the Lexus. You'll never go back to anything else.

The most quiet and comfortable car I have ever driven!!! Mark Levinson is the best sound of all,better than my house stereo. you feel like floating in the air when you are driving this car. dont feel and hear the road. love the park assist and laser cruise control. this car will make you feel sleepy when driving. BUT, this is not designed for city driving with lots of turns and curves, this is more of highway driving car. you can appreciate this car 100% if you are at the backseat.

I bought Lexus LS430 2001 1 month ago,I really dont know where to start let me start with the like it a Lexus and it really nice .My dislike dont know where to start before buying this car I did a carfax which tells me the car was never beened in a accident I told there words on it. Even as the seller. He was like no never beened took his words too.When i first saw the car it had so many scratched on the car which was kinda ok because that normal when you drive a car ,then i went to go open the trunk omg that when everything went wrong. It seem to be the car has beened in a accident now I cant even open my trunk .The bumper we cant even drive the car on freeway cause the bumper is missing the bracket that holds the bumper together not even there scare if i drive it the bumper might falls off. I took the car to a auto body shop so they can check it out . He tells me the car beened hit from the back and it had beened repaired but not to factory specs.(I took pictures of the car will gladly send to you if you want).Im really sad that i bought the car but what else can I do.This is the second time i bought a car on ebay the first time i bought a bmw 745 the second time is this car im so disapointed

The secret to buying one of these cars is all in how it has been maintained in it's lifetime. Well financed previous owners who are conscious of maintenance will keep all the fluids and filters clean regularly, and not as an afterthought. They will also keep the car garaged and detailed. All of this is is essential when it comes to buying a used Lexus. If you get a Lexus and YOU are the one to have to catch up on all the maintenance, you are in for spending some serious cash, unless you are inclined to do much of it yourself. I think the LS 400 is easy to work on, but that is my opinion, of course ... To put it another way, if the car you are buying was treated with respect and cared for diligently, then you have a good car on your hands. They ARE reliable. They are FUN to drive. They are REALLY FUN to own!

Join the Lexus Owners Club. You can learn how to save huge money there on parts ... where to go ... what to do ... tons of good, free advice on Lexus ownership. Just do a Google search for the owners club ... it is easy to find and free to join. All the other owners there are on your side and are happy to help you get the most out of your car ...

If you are into cars anyway and have always wanted one of these, you are in for some real fun! YOUR NEIGHBORS WILL WONDER HOW YOU WERE ABLE TO GET ONE! (but only you and I REALLY know what you REALLY paid!) hehehehehhe!!!! It is a bad choice though if you are planning on trying to cut your child support payments to a new and lower figure sometime in the future .... (that is a joke, ok?) (^-^) !!!

I wish I had held out for a perfect used LS, but I learned the hard way: I had to catch everything up maintenance-wise on the car I bought, and it was pricey even though I did as much as I could by myself. But I really love the car! If you keep your foot out of it, you can get really decent milage from the car as well ..... a really nice benefit these days! They do require Premium Fuel ... and no, you cannot chince-out and use a lesser grade of fuel ....

Be patient and find a good one. I would say in hind sight that it would be worth paying a little more for a "mint" car, rather than trying to take a car and make it perfect yourself ... I think it is cheaper in the long run to just get a car that is already in fantastic condition. On these particular cars, higher milage can be ok just as long as the previous owner changed the oil a lot .... I understand that a really maintained LS can go about 500,000 miles (from what I have read at the owners club)

The low mileage on the car and it's excellent condition, shown in the photos, prompted me to buy it. The price was O.K. The shipper, Dependable Auto Shipper, had some problems getting it picked up, but was resolved in about 10 days. The car arrived as expected, and was in good condition. The car had an oil leak/ The main front seal was leaking. It was repaired and the seller paid for a portion of the cost.

A finely crafted automobile. Comfort, quiet, reliable, and self-assured describe the car. You cannot go wrong.

What an absolutely excellent motor car. My first Lexus after 5 Mercedes and I will never go back. My Mercedes mechanics have lauded the superiority of the Lexus automobile for several years, but I could never get used to the "quick" power steering on the earlier LS models. This car rides smooth, corners like it was on a rail at high speeds, and stops quick. The most comfortable vehicle I have ever owned. It may be too quiet since I recently earned a yellow slip for 96 mph. The service at the Lexus dealerships is beyond whatever that other car manufacturer ever purported to be. Great vehicle, Great service department, and a record for minimal repairs. This is a fantastic experience.
