What it's Worth - Price Range Information
Just Sold on eBay Motors
The Just Sold on eBay Motors price range represents the lowest and highest completed sale price for this vehicle on eBay Motors within the last 90 days.
Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value Range assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

I was looking for a collector car and this suited my needs perfectly. The seller represented the car very well and was very upfront with details. I would absolutely deal with this seller again. It was a wonderful experience. Thanks again.

This is a classic car from 30 years ago. It is uncomfortable but that is expected. It came just as described in the listing. I have already started the restoration with a complete repaint and I have ordered a new interior. The mechanicals are great except for the AC and I will install a modern AC system. I intend to use this car as my daily driver. I picked the coupe because all old convertibles leak and I have many convertibles that I only drive on temperate sunny days. It has a radio circa 1980 that is terrible. I will put a modern GPS/CD deck in the car with an amp and some good speakers.I also bought the car because it is an original yellow car and I like yellow cars.

I Higly recommend the series 2 e-type to any other i have owned and driven all the e-type series and i always go back to the series 2.

The E-Type

Gorgeous as the original Jaguar XK-E is, like many first-series cars of all makes, it suffered from some early teething problems including brake fade, overheating and restrictive foot space, along with less-than-optimal seating comfort.

The later 4.2-engined Series I and II cars eliminated these complaints with larger brakes, improved cooling, and room interior. The second series also addressed U.S. safety requirements of the time with larger tail lamps and open style headlamps, while emissions were reduced via two Zenith carburetors, which actually improved the E's drivability.

Even with these upgrades and improvements, the Series II cars retained the same stunning appearance as the first XK-E's that hit the world like a bombshell at the 1961 Paris Motor Show. Indeed, these cars look as fresh and lovely today as the day they first appeared - the true test of a great design in any field.

This is probably one of the most beautiful cars ever produced, especially in Coupe form. The Series 1 4.2 version-1965 thru 1967- is the most desirable, having several design improvements but leaving untouched the classic toggle switch panel, the 3 carb setup, and covered headlights, as well as the less obtrusive (although less visible) front & rear turn/side/taillights of the original design. The 2 seat coupe is also less clumsy than BLMC's attempt to make a "family" coupe by producing the 2+2 in late 1966. The example on auction is well-kept, needing some restoration and a bit of paint repair, but overall not at all bad for a car now 40 years old. The wool sections of the interior are a bit motheaten looking, and the seats definitely need recovering- and possibly a few other bits as well, but definitely not the entire interior (the interior kit alone is around $4K +!); likewise some components of the engine bay need stripping and repainting (starting with the header tank!, not to mention detailing & polishing of the engine & its components, etc.,)as well as undoing what appears to be black spray paint on the front subframes- which should be the same color as the body (silver). I estimate it would cost someshere in excess of $10,000 to properly redo the areas mentioned, which considering the value of a very nice vehicle isn't at all unreasonable. If the car were to bring somewhere in the mid-$20K area, or possibly a bit more, it would be a very good value, allowing for necessary repair/restoration indicated in the excellent photos.

It is hard to be a poser and drive an E-type, you better have some cash on hand or be a damn good mechanic. Yes, it is all worth it. You can own any other classic sportscar and get a great deal of satisfaction from it, but your heart will always belong to the big cat. The sound of the engine, the feel of her suspension as she slinks through even the tightest curves and the feeling of commanding greatness rather than simply driving will etch themselves indelibly in your soul.
No other car has the universal power to make a normally sane and reasonable man throw caution and sensibility to the wind. Just make sure she is a properly sorted example or that you have a very good mechanical artisan on retainer. When you get your big cat worked on, she always responds best to a mechanic that performs his services with careful and loving hands.
Some guys have all the luck, but only the luckiest of them get to own and drive an E-type.
She is a dream that is still attainable as the prices have not quite shot out of site yet. Life is short and going by faster and faster all the time. You will never regret the E-type. At the very least, when you lie awake at night because your wife thinks of you as a part of the furniture instead of as a love machine, you can go out to your garage, sit in a chair and console yourself with this thing of beauty. She will smile at you alluringly, give you a little wink and invite you to touch and play all you want, because she, unlike the Fridgidaire you left upstairs, will always like it when you do.
