What it's Worth - Price Range Information
Just Sold on eBay Motors
The Just Sold on eBay Motors price range represents the lowest and highest completed sale price for this vehicle on eBay Motors within the last 90 days.
Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value Range assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

Overall
I live in MA so AWD is great to have, if not, a necessity. I looked at the BMW M3 at the same time as well but it failed in the winter comparison (it would be garaged all winter). So, I bought this new and have been delighted with its performance and amenities (eg self-dimming mirrors!). It has been very reliable. I've put over 50k miles on it so it's been and gone through warranty. I got the free servicing so I have no idea about service costs but beware it takes a lot of synthetic oil every time. I've taken it to all of the major race tracks in the NE and had a blast charging round (Audi Club). You won't beat an M3 off the line but on a winding track you'll beat it in overall time. Fit and finish in the cabin is the best in industry.

Concerns/criticisms - if you want a flashy 'look at me' car then this is not it. If you have to carry adults in the back seat all the time then again this is not the car. If you have to cover long miles cross country on the highway then again this is not for you. The sports suspension is just too harsh for long hours in the saddle.

Updside - great fun to drive. High quality fabrication and finish make it a joy to own. The stealth side of its performance is an advantage. If you're going for one then don't buy the tiptronic unless you are a stop start driver in the town all of the time - it saps so much of the power and fun

2001 Audi S4: '01 S4 an exciting ride

I bought my car with a little over 68,000 miles on it. I have changed out the air intake and put on a K&N intake system. I also have upgraded the chip in the car. This car flies now and will handle anything that I throw at it. I replaced the stock wheels/tires with a set of 18" wheels/tires and put on Eibach sport spring kit. I can carve through a corner with much faster now and truly enjoy driving this car. It has never given me any trouble and except for an oil and filter change it has needed nothing in terms of repairs or maintenance. I would recommend an S4 to anyone that wants a truly strong running car that handles well and will carry around you and your friends in style. The other remarkable thing is I get an avg of 24 mpg on my daily commutes which involve both freeway driving and city driving. What more could one ask for?

Was coming back from skiing the other day, rounded in corner at about 60 and there it was, a big patch of black ice, a van flipped over in the middle of the road, and about 7 cars stopped in front of the accident, the S4 Avant maintained steerage while I skidded toward the last car that was stopped and my only choice was to head for the snowbank, which I thought would just stop me cold, instead the car popped up on the bank and then I had to actually accelerate around this car while the car was an a 45 degree angle with two wheels on the snowbank. If hadn't had this car things would not have gone like this for sure, the AWD and ABS system worked very well and I avoided a nice crash...
If you want a wagon that rocks, this is it, you won't be bored by this car. The climate control and bose stereo are perks I had certainly not expected to be so great. Obviously the power and handling of this car are well documented.

My Audi S4 has very impresive acceleration and handling and I am getting 24 MPG! It is truly a fast but practical 4 door sports car. I have owned a Porsche 944 and a Porsche 911, but the Audi S4 is nearly as fun to drive and it has a large trunk and can hold four passengers. The interior is very nicely done with leather and wood accents. It looks very expensive and classy. The Quattro four wheel drive has unbelievable traction on snow and in the rain. The clutch is very smooth and the six speed manual transmission is a blast to drive.

Like other German cars, make sure the maintenance is performed when due and especially make sure to replace the timing belt when it is scheduled to prevent bent valves and expensive engine repairs. I would highly recommend the S4 to anyone looking for a high performance sports car.

If you need a flexible and comfortable vehicle, but still want to feel like you drive a sports car, then this car really fits the bill. Twin turbocharged engine producing 230hp stock, can easily be boosted to over 300hp coupled with the Audi quattro four wheel drive system, with a very precise suspension system. The 6 speed transmission is rarer in the US, but OH SO worth it. If you need a little more room, ther eis the Avant version, which is a wagon and drives as well as the sedan. Good German carftsmanship, no rattles/squeeks, and can now be obtained on ebay for less than $20k.

This car is great in all the seasons. V8 lots of power. I have an automatic, which I have heard is a sin in this car but I love it. Very minor problems, all warranteed, no money out of pocket on repairs. EATS GAS! Handles great in summer and winter. Awesome in the snow. Even more awesome on dry pavement. You can't go wrong with this car, and if your worried about sacrificing the amazing summer months, it comes in a convertible as well. The interior needs a re-do but I'm sure that will come about in the next few years.

2000 Audi S4: 2000 Audi S4, Best car EVER

This is honestly the best car I've ever owned and I've had civics, 2 3-series, a 5-series, an older A4 2.8L, and a Volvo 240. The 2000 S4 6spd is an unbeatable car. It has all wheel drive (which is an amazingly grippy feeling whether you drive on dry, rainy, or snowy pavement), incredible acceleration, and looks to kill. The shifter is smooth, the seats keep you in them, an the stock sound system is wonderfully clear, having a far more full range than I'm used to hearing in unmodified sound systems. The suspension provides a smooth ride, yet leans very little in corners. This car is SOLID, and if you don't hammer on it too much (which is nearly impossible) you can get around 28 highway miles per gallon consistently. City is a little worse, as is to be expected. With 260 ft/lbs of tourqe at a mere 1850 rpms, this twin-turboed 2.7L V6 pulls no matter which gear you're in. Pass someone beginning at 50 miles/hour in 6th? No problem for this car. Although it's power really starts up around 3000 rpms, it has no trouble getting up to three, with VERY little turbo lag. The best part of this engine, I would say, is that you don't have to rev it all the way up to get power out of it. Shifting after 5500 rpms is almost couterproductive. I always say that's a good thing, because the fewer the revs, ceteris parabis, the less engine wear.
Buy this car.
