First, if you haven't done so already, read rd1417's review-- spot on. In addition, I highly recommend an extended warranty for these vehicles, Great Lakes Warranty Corp offers reasonable prices if you do cannot do your own repairs. VAGCOM software is a must, it will get you talking to your car's computer, and will pay for itself the first time you program your own new key fob. DO NOT Neglect scheduled maintenance, and make sure you are familiar with the service intervals *before* you purchase-- that 'good buy' may be a money pit. Example, thru 1999, 80,000 mile service (timing belt, etc) will set you back about $3,000.00 at the dealer, skip it and you will lose your engine. 2000 and later 105,000 miles for standard 4.2 - be sure you have access to service records, or assume it has not been done. These are AWESOME machines, treat yourself to a test drive if you do not buy one.
