I debated this car for a long time and compared it to all mid-level luxury cars in its class. Finally I bit the bullet and bought it and I could not be happier that I did. The car is extremely well thought out. Every little detail in the cabin makes sense. And Acura spared no expense to make sure that everyone is very comfortable. The car handles like a luxury sedan, not a 4x4. The panel and dash include features that you would not think are necessary at start but which will soon addict you and make you think "wow, nice touch!" The seats are very comfortable, both in front and back. Also, third-row seats are standard and, compared to all other 3rd row seating cars that I tested, this one had close to the most space (exception of Land Rover LR3 HSE). We recently took this to Sierra mountains and the car handled great. Also, every one of the 6 adults that were in the car were comfortable and entertained by the DVD player throughout the ride (driver excluded, of course). The navigation is also great and works to a dime. My only problem with the car so far has been the voice activated commands, which has a hard time understanding some simple phrases. There is no way to train the darn thing. But, small fluke. Overall, I love this car and would buy it again anytime!

I bought my MDX on eBay in Mar 2004. I got it slightly used (12K miles) and flew to Vegas with my wife to pick it up. I felt we got a great deal, even with the flights to Vegas and drive back to California.
We bought this Acura sight unseen, and I couldn't be happier with it. The drive is above average for an SUV, though it feels sturdy like a truck. I've owned a Lexus RX300 as well, which I think drives more like a luxury car than a truck. Both are great rides, but I think I prefer the Acura.
We've owned the MDX for 3 years now. It's been a great all around vehicle. We take it to Tahoe and it does pretty well in the snow when you enable the 4x4. On the highway, the ride is pretty quiet, especially for a truck frame-type vehicle.
The gas mileage is ok. I think we're getting around 18 mpg on average, but we do almost all of our driving in suburban streets. One downside, this car requires the highest grade of gas, which can be expensive if you're putting a ton of miles on it.
We have had no reliability issues at all. We've maintained the car regularly (oil changes and dealer servicing when scheduled).
The sound system is good for factory, however, I think the antennae is pretty bad. I use an iPod FM transmitter (plugged into the cigarette lighter), and the reception is annoyingly bad. I'm convinced it's because this vehicles antennae is sub-par. I've used the iPod in other cars, and it works great.
Overall, I love the car, felt I got a good deal on it on eBay Motors and plan to keep it for several more years. It accommodates our trips to Tahoe and acts as a good around town car.
It also looks pretty cool (I think)!

Overall the MDX performs well. Good handling and acceleration, good features for the $'s.
Nav system excellent intergration with the rest of the car.
One concern, the wheel well on the drivers side protrudes into the cabin, it is hard to straighten my left leg making long drives problematic.
Good resale value, quality interior, strong motor and car like handling !!

The choice was between this and an audi all road. great dependable vehicle. Lacks power and the ride isnt as smooth as i thought it would be. We traded our 02 Mercedes C240 sport for it because of NY winters. Milage is about 16-17 hwy which dissapointed me a bit being a honda product, but you cant have everything i suppose. No real pizazz with this vehicle but if your looking for a comfortable a to b shuttle, this is a good option.

Dislikes:
- child seat will need to go in middle of backseat, otherwise won't fit behind captains chairs
- cargo cover for trunk area, not really worth it, heavy, and doesn't cover entire area behind 2nd row seat
- gas mileage is avg, 19.X mpg
- when getting in and out, running boards get mud on your pants because they stick out a bit, don't really need running boards for this vehicle, its low enough to the ground to not require them
- before I owned it, seat belts acted up, needed fixing
- before I owned it, radio antenna replaced, due to poor reception
- accessories on aftermarket sites are expensive
- wants mid grade to premium gas, but like that it is not required
- wife doesn't like styling for navigation system, would've liked to have seen all radio functions built into navigation touchscreen
Likes:
- smooth responsive acceleration and tight handling
- navigation system has nice features for coming out in 2005/2006, 2 custom optionally secure address books
- bluetooth sync for taking phone calls over your radio, steering wheel button
- rear entertainment for kids
- moonroof's are always nice
- when in reverse, i don't have some crazy arse construction vehicle sound like i'm operating in a gravel pit (prius does, boy is that annoying)
- wife like fancy styling on the inside, comfortable seats, the purple gages

I use this MDX every day for my Real Estate business,I drive about 30,000 miles per year.I do use it in the snow ,ice and rural areas as well. This vehicle handles very well and has not let me down.

This is the second Acura I have owned. I bought both of them on EBAY. I still have the first one, a 2000 TL.
The MDX has the same reliable V6 engine and many of the same controls, seats and driving characteristics as the TL. With the MDX I decided to purchase my first high mileage vehicle. Only because the TL has been so reliable.
I have been very pleased with the MDX so far. The buying experience was pleasant also, plus in GA if you buy from and individual you do not have to pay sales tax. That saved me over a thousand dollars. I spent that money making sure that all the maintenance is current, including the timing belt. I expect the MDX to last me several years as I only drive about 10K miles per year.

This has been a great family car. It has a powerful engine, its quiet, and we've come to rely on the nav system. We love the backup camera, too. We really have no complaints about this car, everything is well laid out and well designed. Oh, one complaint- a minor one but one I am always frustrated by- the clock is hard to locate. I like a prominent, easy to find clock because I'm always checking it. This one is low on the center counsole on the radio. The current temp setting is at the top center of the counsole (where the clock should be :-) ) That should say a lot about the car if that's our only complaint.

I got a great deal on this car. Love the interior finishes, the navigation and DVD system, the back seat that lies flat, and after buying new tires (somewhat of a disappointment), the ride is perfect. Buy an MDX if you've had a larger SUV but still need 7 seats.

This vehicle is the most comfortable one that I have ever been in! Comfortable enough to spend 2 days in it driving it to VA from FL which is 13 hours and drove 7 hrs. one day and 6 the next.
I have driven other SUV vehicles such as the GMC Yukon, Ford Explorer and Chevy Blazer and been a passenger in vehicles as the GMC Yukon Delani, Ford Expedition and Dodge Durango. It seems to me that even though these are American Domestic vehicles, the quality, comfort and craftsmanship just isn't there like it is with Acura.
This vehicle makes my 3rd Acura purchase, 2 Integras and I can assure you that no one should be displeased with any of Acura's lineup. They look good, the features are placed nicely, such as the radio for example is within reaching distance instead of placing it high on the dash.
Before purchasing this MDX with 66,000 miles for $18995 on eBay, I went to a local dealership that had the same year with 101,000 miles for $26,000. I test drove it anyway to see what the Acura I was about to purchase would ride like 40,000 miles later and I was so impressed!
