What it's Worth - Price Range Information
Just Sold on eBay Motors
The Just Sold on eBay Motors price range represents the lowest and highest completed sale price for this vehicle on eBay Motors within the last 90 days.
Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

2004 Volkswagen Phaeton: What a great car!!!!!!!!

This car is awesome! It is a real sleeper. It drives like a dream and is super luxury. It really feels expensive. Well it is, but it feels like a Bently. I have looked at all the cars comprable to it and this is by far the nicest. It definately has the most leg room and is the prettiest. There is so much leg room in the back that you can put a fold up tray table on the floor! The car is super powerful too. There is a secret little button under the gas pedal that pours fuel straight into the engine and allows the car to go about 140. With the V8. Imagine what it would be like with the W12!There is not one thing I would change about it. Did I mention it is so quitet and smooth that you cant even tell when you are going 80 miles per hour. It is so quiet you can even whisper! It has massaging seats, air conditioned seats, heated seats, tons of safety, air suspension, GPS, Individual air controls for all four seats, rain sensing wipers, a little thing that slides out of the drive's seat to rest yuor legs on, indirect air conditioning, double paned windows, and much much more. The air conditioning even has little wood covers that fold down when the car has reached your chosen temperature.Go get a brochur today!
P.S. I really like my car!!!!! Can you tell?

As I write thie review for my 2004 VW Phaeton, I realize that I'm not the average VW customer. Let me explain. In 2006 I purchased a new Bentley Flying Spur, a truly amazing car. I still own the Bentley and enjoy it on sunny days. OK, I'm sure that you are thinking, this guy is crazy, he owns what is arguably one of the quickest, fastest, most luxurious 4 door sedan in the planet and drives a 2004 VW Phaeton as a daily drive? Well, the link between the two is not as remote as you might think. They both share the same 4wd system, the same NAV system, the same dash and information center layout, many of the same suspension pieces, ride control, sunroof (as far as I can determine - at least the operational buttons and features are exactly the same) - and the list goes on. Although I wouldn't say that I conduse the two while driving them, but I they both have merits for ownership. If you can afford the Bentley, it's worth the experience of 552 horsepower and 198 mph top speed. But I actually prefer to drive the Phaeton daily. At $25,000 (used price) the fee to enter a superior german engineered sedan is within everyone's reach. And the ride is something you won't forget. The styling, while not for everyone, is actually handsome in my eyes. The back seat room is limousine large and I was lucky enough to find one with the 4 place seating. So - it too is rare. When you factor in the price for a good used Phaeton and measure that against the quality and features, you'll soon forget the all too large VW emblem on the front grill and rear truck. But honestly - I think it's novel. In fact, my license plate holder on the Phaeton should read "my other car is a Bentley" - but then again, no one would believe me.

2004 Volkswagen Phaeton: Phaeton W12

Researched the heck out of this car, was very impressed on first ride. But started breaking down almost immediately. The look and feel is quality/luxury all the way, but the follow thru on quality is suspect. Anybody who bought this vehicle at retail must be furious. Even now, those attempting resale on Ebay are asking way too much. Be very careful when buying this car, BE SURE TO CARFAX! and ask for maintenance records.

I love the understated elegance and the many fine details of the interior. The workmanship and quality of the materials are excellent. The car handles well, with a very comfortable ride and quite responsive for such a heavy car. The big V8 engine purrs like a tiger cub and the auto stabilization ensures a dynamically fine tuned ride. The electronics are amazing and offer many conveniences. If you love gadgets, computers, and understated luxury you will absolutely love this car. I haven't had the car long enough to review it's reliabilioty, only time will tell, but so far, I am impressed with this remarkable and bueautiful car.

I have had my Phaeton for almost a year now, and I love it. The ride is excellent, and the engine performance is superior to what I have seen in this class. The only thing I worry about down the proverbial road is maintenance cost and perhaps, more importantly, knowledge on how to fix the thing. I read that only 400 or so of these cars were sold in the states in 2006, and if you are fortunate enough to find a good service tech, such as I had in Virginia Beach, then you are good. If not, you may be in for a painful and expensive maintenance nightmare. I haven't seen this yet, but I consider this the ONLY potential negative for this car. I feel it is truly one of the best used car deals out there today.
