What it's Worth - Price Range Information
Just Sold on eBay Motors
The Just Sold on eBay Motors price range represents the lowest and highest completed sale price for this vehicle on eBay Motors within the last 90 days.
Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

I bought the VW Passat for a reasonable price. I've had to have some minor repairs on the vehicle which for the cost and what I paid for the vehicle I'm not complaining. I save a great deal of money on gas and car insurance. I love the car for the value.

2002 Volkswagen Passat: RIPPPED OFF OF DEPOSIT

It was a horrible experience. I was ripped off of a $500 deposit and neither Ebay or Paypal will do anything about it. I would not recommend anyone to purchase a car from FRANKLIN AUTO EXCHANGE, FROM EYAD OR HIS BROTHER FRANK. EYAD took my $500 deposit and LEFT THE COUNTRY on vacation. He told me he would give me my deposit back when he returned in a month, knowing full well that a month would go by and he would not be legally responsible. I filed claim within 30 days with paypal and they took forever to reject it and suggested at that point going to Ebay, which said it was too late to do anything.

I like how clean the car is. I like the way the car maneuvers. This car is fun to drive. I am not worried about this car leaving me stranded. The e-bay seller gave his word I would be satisfied and I am. The next used car I purchase I will definetly contact the seller.

I like the car... I bought this car 2 weeks ago, and I have loved every moment with it. It came well equipped. I did not find any single scratch or severe damages on the car that made me regret it. The only thing, was the handbrake, which has a minor problem, which can be easily fixed. Apart from that, everything is in an excellent condition. I'd recommend this seller to anyone willing to buy a vehicle...

2002 Volkswagen Passat: It's always a gamble

I was looking for a relatively inexpensive car (around $5 - 6 thousand) that got good gas mileage and was dependable. I also wanted something bigger than a puddle jumper. So I started looking at smaller size station wagons. There were many negative complaints on the web about most any brand of used cars. I finally narrowed it down between Saab and VW wagons (but also should have included Saturn). I found a few of each on Ebay and bought one (2002 VW wagon, 1.8 turbo, automatic) about 200 miles from where I live. It was an auction vehicle that someone had bought at an auction to resell to try to make a profit. The seller didn't take very good photos, had a poor description in the ad, and spoke broken English so he was hard to find out a lot about the vehicle. I bought it because it was cheap (about 1/2 Blue book price). It did have the original owners manual showing service records on time for the first 80,000 miles. It had 105 K miles and was in nice but not detailed condition. I trailered it home through a snow storm with no problems, and took it to a VW mechanic who looked it over and found it needed a timing belt and tensioner (and it's smart to put on a new water pump at the same time) and one front suspension part was a little loose, so he put a new one on. I got it state inspected and it has been running great for about a month now. Oh.... Along with the poor description came some good. The ad didn't say anything about the tires (or the wheels but I could tell they were alloy). When I asked the guy about the tires he said they were like new, just as any used car salesman would. But when I got the car they were actually like new AND not just some cheap off brand but Pirelli steel belted radials. The car is very nice to drive and very smooth. I consider it a good buy.

We live in an area that get lots of snow, the 4-motion is great. The W8 engine has good power. The only complaint is I wish it had the 6 speed manual.
I had could not find any W8 engines in my area of the country. E-bay not only had several to chose from but I was able to purchase it for five thousand under book value. My wife and I could'nt be happier.

Thank you

Love this Vehicle. I bought this vehicle at a very reasonable price, the car runs amazing. I'd definitely recommend this car, seller, or any car this seller has up for auction. The seller made the buying experience completely stress free. Love it!

2002 Volkswagen Passat: Great Car - Lots of $ maintenance!!!

The vehicle looks great! It has a good mix of features, somewhat eclectic. As a German car it has an odd mix of luxury and near luxury features, and some features that one would expect, but are inexplicably missing.

The reliability is okay. For a vehicle which is 6 years old it has more than it's fair share of rattles. Don't confuse this with a Japanese vehicle! The maintenance is getting pricey, an interference engine with a timing belt, means a pricey maintenance at 105,000 miles, timing belt, tensioner, water pump, serpentine belt. The emission system is notoriously sensitive; dual exhaust means two catalytic converters and 4 O2 sensors, with a dealer replacement of over $2,000! And don't misplace a key, because you're not going to get one replaced at the drug store. A robust engine immobilizer system means a costly trip to the dealer for a $245 replacement key.

It is a safe car, an air bag everywhere, a solid 4 wheel drive system, and really fun to drive, really fun! Just know what you're getting into. This car will need a committed owner, you're not going to just add gas and go, but when you want to go, you'll enjoy the ride!!!

Great looking wagon. 1.8T is peppy and fuel effecient. Getting around 30mpg avg driving. Do not accelerate much at lights. Sound and strong vehicle. No rattles. Plenty of storage room. Digital reporting system easy to use. 5-speed automatic is smooth. Seating position comfortable. Handles very good. Monsoon audio system superior. Enjoyable. Service rather expensive, especially from a dealer. Not easy to replace fuel filter or service transmission. Engine oil filter very difficult to change, but it can be done.

2002 Volkswagen Passat: VW Passat W8 Perfect mix of fun and economy

This Passat has the W8 engine with Tiptronic transmission and 4 motion. The car is the perfect mix of performance, comfort and economy. It got better than 22 MPG on the five hundred mile trip back home. I enjoyed the feeling of having unlimited power to spare and its road handling manners were impeccable. I expected the car to be fast and comfortable but was very pleasantly surprised at how easy it maneuvers. I think these cars are the best kept secret in the industry...
