This is my third Jetta; I've owned an MKIII, MKIV, and now an MKV, and I am impressed. These cars have come a long way, and as Volkswagen is planning on a return to a more affordable people's car for the next Jetta series, I'd be willing to bet that these will the the pinnacle in the Jetta line for quite some time.
There are a tremendous number of features for my "stripped" pkg. 0. Automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, heated seats, highline display (trip computer), power driver's seat, customizable "comfort" options (e.g., can decide how you like the doors unlocked, coming home lights, etc.).
The car also drives and performs well. It is a bigger and heavier car as compared to the MKIV series, but it handles itself well on the roads. It is extremely smooth, and the cabin is comfortable. The car has a nice feel to it, and everything fits very well. There are a host of aftermarket options to dress it up, but the interior is excellent.
Mine is the TDI version, and that is reason I traded my Mazda3 for this. This car is quiet and smooth, yet it gets between 45-50 mpg with a manual transmission and conscientious driving. In addition, you can run biodiesel, which is better for the environment and stimulates the US economy, 10k mile oil change intervals, 600-800 miles/tank, etc.
Overall, I could not be happier with the car or the seller. I would definitely recommend buying one, especially the TDI series. Visit tdiclub.com and find me there (czar) if you have any questions. You can't go wrong with this car!
