2000 Volkswagen Jetta

I own (2) TDI diesel Jettas and have owned 8 diesel VW's in the past. The following is a list problem areas that u can expect to experience during ownership: #1 Automatic Transmission fails to shift smoothly or will not build up pressure in reverse ($2500 rebuild)and occurs over 100,000 miles. #2 Air conditioning fails to operate on higher mileage cars (up to $1200 if condensor and or compressor needs replacing..and More $ if u take it to a dealer!). #3 Electric windows fail to operate after 60,000 miles ($360 per window). #4 Interior appointments poor quality (glove box hinges break and glove box door falls off, plastic cup holder breaks). If it's made of plastic it WILL break on a VW! ON THE PLUS SIDE: ALL OF MY TDI DIESELS ACHIEVE NO LESS THAN 54 MPG ON THE INTERSTATE AT 60MPH! HANDLING IS SAME AS THE 3 SERIES BMW...A BLAST TO DRIVE! DIESEL ENGINE RELIABILITY IS TOPS..NEVER AN INTERNAL PROB ON ANY OF MY DIESELS..ONE OF MY CARS HAS 464,000 MILES AND ANOTHER HAS 361,000 MILES..SEVERAL OTHERS FAR EXCEED 200,000 MILES..ALL ON THE ORIGINAL ENGINE. Summary: If u can put up with the cheap plastic interior and the other defects listed above and AVOID the automatic trans cars you will enjoy the car overall but STAY AWAY FROM DEALERS..they charge you as if a Jetta is a Rolls Royce!

i won this car on ebay and thought i was getting a good deal on a nice older tdi. Three days after the auction ended i still hadn't heard from the seller. I emailed the seller a couple times with no reply. finally i got an email from the seller but somehow the car had moved to seattle,wa from st. louis,mo and the seller had some sob story about a divorce and a sick kid and wanted to arrange for the car to be shipped after you send payment. at least i didnt fall for it and i wasnt out anything but thinking i got a good deal on a nice car for a while.

The seller did not dislose 1/2 of the things wrong with the vehicle. The car's electrical system is completely shot. The lights do not work, the doors do not lock, the trunk does not open, the glove compartment is seales shut. (there is not way of opening it) the vehicle although driveable, was a complete fraud. If the seller would have disclosed all the things that were wrong with the vehicle, i would have never placed a bid. BUT SINCE THE SELLER OUTRIGHT LIED ABOUT THE CONDIITON OF THE VEHICLE I WAS THE ONE WHO WAS ROBBED BLIND. I need ebay's help in putting a stop to this seller. please don't allow this seller to commit any more fraud with another innocent bidder. i need for someone in e-bays fraud department to contact me immediately. I need to find out my legal rights, so i may take legal action against this seller.

I really do love everything about my jetta. It rides very smooth and is just the right size. I wish it had a CD player but that is something I can do.

very good car, would recommend to anyone seeking economical, trouble free transportation. 2000 model with 88,000 miles, runs like new.

When I receive this car I was in a total shock,this car has been through H---.It ia nothing like it was describe an nothing like the picture on ebay.I wish you people could see this car,the car has not been clean-up in two month,the head liner is falling down,the door panel material has come loose,the left mirror is broken,the center console arm rest broken,the glove box door broken,cup holder broken.I have file all papers to get my money back.( PLEASE HELP ) Thank Ronnie Steele

First let me state I had been driving a 1982 Mercedes 300D for the last 8 years and it was starting to get a little old so I looked around and bought a 2000 Jetta TDI. It is smaller and a rougher ride, the interior is OK but cheap compared to the older car. The fuel mileage is much better though. The handling is much like a sports car quick and nimble but again the ride is rough (you feel every bump). If you are looking for great MPGs and don't ride on the interstates much, this would be a nice car.

Love gas milage.I never got less than 51mpg.On the hwy at 70mph I am getting 60mpg!!!Right after purchase replaced air flow sensor , timing belt and installed k&n filter.This 90 hp diesel is faster than my 110hp gas sedan.Just love it.

I bought this car 2 weeks ago. I was needing something to save on gas and this car is it. It gets about 30 to 40 miles per gallon. It rides smooth, love the leather seats & sun roof. I would highly recommend this car.
