like and love that it was nice and that the person alway call us and told us what was wrong with it even when we didn't ask. he was a good person and sealer to us. it took time to do everything but it was done. i would love to buy other things from him.

I bought a '97 VW Jetta, with manual tranny, from a EBay seller of used cars. This car, although it has about 138,000 miles seems to be a solid runner. No problems starting or shifting. Nice, tight, responsive handling. Easy on gas.

I purchased the a 97' jetta with the 2.0 auto. We have been very pleased with it. As to now we have had no problems with it, it gets 25-30 mpg. We have a yukon xl (love it as well), but wanted something that gets better gas mileage when we do not have the entire family. It sets 4 comfortably. The only negatives are the heated seats do not get very warm, the trunk has a spoiler on it which is very heavy and hard for my wife to open trunk, and since it is so heavy when you push the trunck release button it sometimes locks again before you can get back to open trunk

Jetta's are usually a good car and this one looked ok, plus the receipts displayed in the ad pictures helped my decision.

First off when buying an used european car you must first be prepared to face typical maintance repairs such as parts in the water cooling system, brakes, etc. The european parts tend to be expensive but that can also be considered a stereotype. You can stay within reason by purchasing parts online. Anyways back to my current car the 172hp 173 lb. tq ObdII Vr6 DOHC engine in my 97' vw Jetta. The car's engine design is so compact and unique that there's nothing like in any other car with the Vr6 engine your looking at 15 degree banks instead of the usually 60 or 90 degree, it produces a good amount of power especially with a manual transmission. For me I love this car and instantly became a vw fan! But I have done a considerably amount of work mostly on the watercooling system which is typical for this car. Also the volkswagons are known for electrical bugs which can set off things like the ignition switch (not able to turn the car on), window power to fail, and others. But if theres anything you want to know, is stay mechanically on top of your volkswagon because one problem will produce another problem. My jetta is my first car but I have begun to get my feet wet with DIY's and have finally became a master on working on my V-Dub. The design of this engine is compact but has a simple lay out and makes things very explanatory. I would highly recommend this car because of it's thrill to drive, and just everything about it. But it don't recommend it to someone who isn't willing to repair when needed and let's problems persist.

I really like everything about the car. It is the perfect size and reasonalby quick. it gets great gas mileage.

This car has bumps, dents, and scratches as would be expected of a car that is 11 years old. I drives runs and drives nice The interior is in above average condition. There are a few minor issues that will have to be addressed but nothing that was not expected.

I must say the car looked good in the pictures. However while driving the car home the speedometer stopped working as did all the guages and dash lights. The car then began to shake horribly. We took the car to our mechanic to find out the check engine light was broken on purpose. The car needed an oxygen censor and still the light will not go off. No happy camper if you know what I mean.
