What it's Worth - Price Range Information
Just Sold on eBay Motors
The Just Sold on eBay Motors price range represents the lowest and highest completed sale price for this vehicle on eBay Motors within the last 90 days.
Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

1995 - 2004 Toyota Tacoma Highlights
Toyota's sixth-generation pickup finally got a proper name of its own--Tacoma. The all-new model has a driver-side airbag, and featured aggressive new styling, both inside and out. Propelling the new Tacoma were three engines two 4-cylinders and a V6. The new engines included a 142-horsepower dual overhead cam 2.4-liter, a 150-horsepower dual-overhead-cam 2.7-liter, and a 190-horsepower dual-overhead cam 3.4-liter V6. The Tacoma also rode on a redesigned chassis and suspension and came with rack-and-pinion steering in place of the previous recirculating ball system. Also, 4-wheel ABS was now optional on all Tacoma models. The 4WD models were visually differentiated from 2WD models by a distinct grille treatment and an elevated chassis.
Year to Year Changes
1996 Toyota Tacoma: For '96, Toyota's Tacoma pickup is provided with a new off-road package that includes a locking rear differential. The new unit is available only on regular-cab 4WD models with a manual transmission. On 2WD models it includes a rear differential locking system, 31-inch tires on alloy wheels, and a tachometer. On 4WD models, Toyota charges a little more, but adds bucket seats, a center console, and 4WDemand, the more sophisticated of Toyota's two 4-wheel-drive systems.
1997 Toyota Tacoma: For 1997, 2WD models get a new grille and flush headlights. Also, the base 2.4-liter engine gains a new ignition system and a more sophisticated sequential multipoint fuel-injection system.
1998 Toyota Tacoma: Tacoma finally gets a passenger-side airbag, and the SR5 models get a new name--Limited.
1999 Toyota Tacoma: Seatbelt pretensioners topped the short list of changes for '99.
2000 Toyota Tacoma: Intermittent windshield wipers became standard, and models with ABS now had daytime running lights. Four-wheel-drive trucks got numerically higher axle ratios for quicker takeoffs.
2001 Toyota Tacoma: New for 2001 were 4-door Double Cabs with four front-opening doors and a 60/40 folding rear bench seat. All models got a restyled front end with a raised hood and prominent grille. Also added for 2001 was a new S-Runner model--a manual-transmission V6 PreRunner Xtracab with stiffer springs, premium shock absorbers, color-keyed exterior, and special interior appointments.
2002 Toyota Tacoma: There were no significant changes for 2002.
2003 Toyota Tacoma: Antilock brakes were made standard on all models for 2003.
2004 Toyota Tacoma: The Tacoma loses its optional flare-fender StepSide cargo box in 2004.

Pros: Acceleration (V6) / Reliability
Cons: Price / Engine noise / Ride / Step-in height (4WD)

Estimated Repair Costs: A/C Compressor $1,315 Alternator $360 Automatic Transmission or Transaxle $1,457 Brakes $190 Clutch, Pressure Plate, Bearing $915 Exhaust System $242 Radiator $520 Shocks and/or Struts $210 Timing Chain or Belt $200

Powertrain Options:
Standard powerplants included 2.4-liter 2.7-liter 4-cylinders 3.4-liter V6. The smaller 4-cylinder is standard on 2WD models, while the 4WD dels offer the 2.7-liter unit. The new V6 is available for both configurations. The 2.4-liter dual-overhead-cam 4-cylinder offers 142 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 160 pound-feet of torque at 4000 rpm. The larger 4-cylinder boosts output to 150 horsepower at 4800 rpm and 177 pound-feet of torque at 4000 rpm. Finally, the Tacoma's V6 delivers a lusty 190 horsepower at 4800 rpm and 220 pound-feet of torque at 3600 rpm.

• Overall Satisfaction:
I love Toyota vehicles, I have two of them, bought both off e-bay. I decided to buy a pickup off e-bay and found one that according to the description was just what I wanted. I called the seller and asked questions and concerns about the vehicle, was assured all was as stated in the Vehicle Description which I have quoted below:

"This is a great looking 2001 Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner pickup truck. New tires (all 4)! Fantastic interior and exterior. Runs perfectly, no defects! This is an awesome truck..very well maintained".

Just what I wanted. When driving it home from the truck transport company dock I found that 58 mph was as fast as I could go before the truck started shaking and shimming so badly that I had to reduce speed to 55 to keep it on the road. I called the seller and he told me he didn't know about any problem and would not help me try to fix it. After $2100.00 for front end work and $1000.00 electrical
wiring work it is finally beginning to do what I was told it would do. All work preformed at my local
Toyota dealer and I have verification on all repairs.
I would not hesitate to buy another Toyota vehicle because I believe they are the best made.
Overall it has been quite an expensive purchase, and I can only offer one suggestion when buying an
automobile, buy from a dealer not an individual, just my opinion. It's not the truck that is at fault it's the seller. He is not honest and is using his Grandaughter's web address for his selling. There is no way to give him bad feedback because he is using another persons web address, so they would be the one getting the bad review. He misrepresented his product knowing that it was not as advertised in e-bay and has not the decency to try and make it right.
Note: Beware of individual sellers from Houston, TX, investigate them throughly before bidding.!!

2001 Toyota Tacoma: Great Truck

Toyota has an excellent reputation for dependability. The look is sporty and youthful...just what we wanted for our young nephew. The lift kit and different grill just added to it's appeal. So glad to have made this purchase. Were looking for an S-10 originally, but this Toyota truck was priced right and had more options and better looks. I also go back to it's reputation for lasting a long time.

2001 Toyota Tacoma: tacoma 4 door

Bought this truck new. Holds resale very well.added K&N filter for quicker acceleration. Upgraded speakers for better sound quality. Everything I need in a truck. Rear leg room is acceptable. Nissan frontier 4 door has more leg room in the front, but way less in the back, not to mention the tacoma has a larger bed. I added a hitch and have no problem pull 16Ft boat up hills. In 8 years, I have not had any problems with the truck. The seats are a little stiff, but driving long trips in excess of 1000 miles is not a problem. I have only had ro change the brakes, & battery.(knock on wood) Very pleased with this truck in all areas.

I actually helped a friend get this truck to take to his country. He has informed me that the truck is very nice and is very happy with it. He says this gentleman was very polite and prompt in everything. I would glady deal with this person again.
