This was the first car I bought for myself. It was a 2001 Toyota Echo, 4 door with an automatic transmission. It had electric and manual locks, a cd player, manual windows, driver and passenger front airbags, and the backseat folded down to give more trunk space. There is also a huge amount of little places to put extra things, like a space in each door, and even a little space under the steering wheel to keep things, and little spaces on either side of the center consol.
This car looks small, but it is actually quite spacious. Inside you have a really big amount of headroom and even my fiance, who is 6'5" tall was able to drive it quite comfortably. The trunk can also hold a lot. I easily fit 2 large suitcases and some other items inside while I was moving. It got great gas mileage (about 40mpg), and I could easily accelerate up to 90mph. It was a great car for me to drive back and forth to school in, since I had a 60 mile round-trip about 4 days a week. It saved me tons of money on gas, and was very nice to drive.
The only drawbacks to this vehicle are very minor. There are no armrests for the driver and passenger, which can make long trips a little uncomfortable. There are also only 2 cupholders in the very front of the car. The place where the speedometer and gas meter and such are actually not directly in front of the driver. The consol is up and to the right, which can be a little strange to get used to, but once I was used to it, I actually liked it even better than normal cars because I could easily see everything I needed to without having to look through the steering wheel. Another drawback was driving through snow. The car took ice just fine, but if you have to drive through deep snow, you might get stuck.
Overall, this was my favorite car so far to drive, and I was extremely happy that I got one. It might not be the best car out there, but it's great for high school and college students, and also a great money-saver in the longrun. A great little car!
