1986 Toyota Corolla: Last of the RWD Corollas: Race Legend AE86

04/03/07
• Overall Satisfaction:
I own a 1986 Toyota Corolla GT-S. You had to get the GT-S or SR5 sport Coupe or 3-door (Hatchback) in order to get the RWD Layout. This car was crowned a legend very shortly after its release. It had the most HP in its class at the time in the GT-S Trim sporting a 16 Valve 1.6L Fuel Injected 4AGE (Also in the MR2)with a smooth 115hp at 7,200 RPM. This car was different than most Compact Sports Cars. It was the mid 80's yet it had features that some cars of today still dont come with. To list a few: Front and Rear Disk Brakes, Limited Slip Differential Solid Rear Axle, Power Steering, 14" Aluminum Wheels, Power Mirrors, Sunroof (Optional), Power Windows (Optional), Cassette and EQ (Optional), Race Seats with inflateable lumbar (Driver Side GT-S only), 4 Link Rear, 5-Speed Manual, and many others that I cant think of. The car was truely ahead of its time. Even today (2007) the car is still used in popular world racing events. It has been through the fastest most dangerous Rally events, Down the darkest Mountain passes, in the hottest circut races, around the sharpest drift corners, and even made an 8 sec. pass on the drag strip. 1986 Toyota Corolla: Purchasing a used car.

09/30/09
• Overall Satisfaction:
I really like this vehicle. I have always wanted one. The seller answered all my questions. That made me feel more confident about bidding on a car this old on ebay. He didnt have any pictures of the interior on ebay, but thats ok because the interior was very clean except for one thing. The body was in great condition considering the fact it is 23 years old. There were two things I didn't like, and those were the windshield has a crack running three quarters across the windshield and needs to be replaced. The other is in the interior the climate control face plate was cracked and had a hole in it. That needs to be replaced also. Aside from that I like the car and I'm satisfied with my purchase.
