1998 Toyota 4Runner

I love everything about this truck......it has 150k on it and it feels like a truck with 30k on it...
Bought for under 5k, not sure why anyone would pay over 8k for an suv..Take care of your vehicles and they will last well past 300k.
I will run this thing well past 300k, maybe a few hundred per yr in repairs and it is golden.

The deal I got from Davis Acura was great. The internet salesman Fran G. went above and beyond to answer my questions. When you buy something from auction you are afraid to get burned.He calmed my fears and answered all my questions. On the other hand the sales manager by the name of Ron made my experience anything but pleasant. I went to the dealership to check the car out and he gave me a hard time and was a arrogant prick. I recommend you do anything to not deal with this guy as he a miserable person. Stick with Fran G and you will get a great deal....
We got a 1998 Toyota 4Runner for $4900

We bought this sweet little SUV, used, in Fall 2000 after our 1995 Suburban gave us the fits for the last time, after its umpteenth UN-scheduled maitenance trip to the dealer. The Toyota had 44K miles on it, which gave us pause as that was a lot of use for just a two year old vehicle, but it was certified preowned and was in flawless condition. What a great buy...the vehicle now has 168,000 miles on it 8 years later, and is virtually indestructible...bought it at Toyota of North Hollywood, CA and always serviced it there. Other than rear axle seals, it has been only routine scheduled maintenance...absolutely NO problems...4WD is seldom used but always ready when we pull the lever. Still very tight, except for the occasional sound similar to dropping a tray of flatware coming from the front end when turning right in a bumpy dip...the dealer says the suspension is fine..that's the only annoyance in an incredibly reliable vehicle...We expect to get over 250K miles out of it, easy. The engine barely soils the oil between changes and has the same friendly growl when pushed a bit, and is almost silent under gentle use. Very satisfied.

The reason I chose to make this purchase is because the seller and I had emailed each other consistently for a few weeks prior to the purchase. He was very consistent with his responses, and courteous and patient with my numerous questions. It's obviously difficult to purchase a vehicle without test driving, especially when flying from Houston to Dallas for the purchase. The seller even insisted I test drive it before handing over the final payment! But even had I not test drove it, given the communication between he and I, I would have still handed over the final payment without asking questions! I was truly impressed with the excellent condition of the exterior, and he (seller) was so elaborate with his details on the mechanical aspects of the car. In my opinion, its a reflection of a person's integrity to be so meticulous of his vehicle. Thanks again, NoSpinners!!!

It is well made. Can endure all temperature climates. I live in Las Vegas, NV. where the Temp. gets gets extremely hot and the A/C works just great.It never over heats. It's never had to have parts replaced. It steers very well. Good turning radius. Comfortable seating front and rear. Brakes very well. I always use Synthetic oil. I have the Lubrication at the Toyota Dealership. They know the car best. I also had at 60,000 miles the transmission fluid changed. Not by just dropping the oil pan. That only gets out about 3 1/2 qts. of fluid. I had the dealer change the fluid through the transmission fluid lines, this empties all the fluid in the torque convertor, as well as the trans. It replaces about 13 1/2 quarts of fluid. The cost was $130.00.I had the dealer perform this service. But it also enhances the transmission life. I'm a firm believer in proper auto maintenance. She'll be 10 years old this month. I bought it November of 1997. Thanks. Ben

I needed a new (for me) car and I wanted something that works in sun rain or snow, and it tends to flood here in houston from time to time so I'm able to still travel safely. It's incredible roomy but modest. The downside would be the gas consumption and when it gets to 100 degrees, it takes a little while to cool off the rear seats. Love it, though.

We have owned almost every model in Toyota's line and we have been impressed as alwyas at the reliability of this car. If you are buying used, but TOYOTA!
