What it's Worth - Price Range Information
Just Sold on eBay Motors
The Just Sold on eBay Motors price range represents the lowest and highest completed sale price for this vehicle on eBay Motors within the last 90 days.
Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

1986 Toyota 4Runner: 1986 Toyota 4Runner, 22 Years Young

Cant beat reliability. I own 4 Toyotas all have 200 plus thousand miles. This vehicle fits so many situations. Remove the top and you have a convertible or a truck, back seats fold down and you have a 8 foot bed. Need 4 wheel drive, at your finger tips. Will carry 5 adults some what comfortable, at least the front 2 will be defiantly, plenty of leg room. This particular 4Runner gets 21 to 22 miles per gal highway. It also has automatic transmission with push button overdrive. The engine is the bullet proof R22 EFI with AC. Parts aren't way too expensive but you do have to watch after market because the workmanship just isn't their. Pretty much 1985 4Runners and 4X4 trucks up 1988 all the parts are interchangeable. Most of all these vehicle are very popular with a wide range of people.

1986 Toyota 4Runner: a terrific FAMILY 4x4

i purchased a 1986 4runner from a private party (granted it was private, but was the original owner with documentation). The seller had all the documentation and service reports included. I bought it due to owning a Hi-Lux of the same year. The driveline was very sturdy. It was able to handle pretty much whatever we threw at it. Unfortunately in my case, once in a while there is an engine (no matter the maker) that hsa flaws. It was not exactly on the top of my mind as to why the rings had to be changed 6 times in nine months. It was indeed a fun truck, but was more of a family type vehicle. It drove and handled like a car. Unfortunately, the rear (due to the fiberglass top) was heavy and got a little happy in loose gravel. Performance was moderate for a truck. The gearing was more than adequate for a car. I would recommend this vehicle for the average driver looking for a decent fuel economic family SUV. As for the off-highway enthusiast, this vehicle could be capable with some upgrades.

I bought my 4runner for 6 hundred bucks just to have a beater/ second vehicle. I've had it about a year and a half and am now a believer. I drive this rig way more than I intended to. It has almost 300,000 miles and tons of rust, but still dives great! Bone stock it out performs any other stock 4x4 I have experienced. When I win the lotto I will definately be on ebay looking for a cherry generation 1 4runner

1986 Toyota 4Runner: 2 door removeable hardtop?

Extremely reliable, and completely functional. Although the removeable hardtop is nearly anything but. It was well designed in the sense that removal can be accomplished by oneself, but much has to be removed. It became very clear as to why the tops seldom were removed. One must remove nearly all the trim pieces just to unsecure the top. This actually presents a serious issue. Where to put the pieces as to not get lost? Next, the driveline. Little has to be done to the extremely stout little truck. If I were to make a suggestion, it would be a better ratio and all-terrains only. Granted the tire size provided was a street tire, but the open differential provides complexity to a "stuck" situation. We enjoyed the power rear window, the gas mileage, and the (interestingly enough) dual inside handles on the passenger door. The design shows alot of thought, consideration, and planning. But, not quite enough. The performance needs to be that of the pickup, the ratio more useable (like a 3.73 or 4.10), and the top to be more accessable to remove. Other than these minor headaches, an all around enjoyable truck.

1986 Toyota 4Runner: A True little work horse! DEPENDABLE! EXCELLENT!

• Overall Satisfaction:
Well i had one for a long time a while back and all i can say is im my opinion Toyota is far the best small truck 4x4 ever made. You cant beat them from the fuel economy to the tuff little 22R efi engine under the hood. The life of the engines and the drive train is simply remarkable they run forever. As for parts a bit pricey but you generally dont have to change to many if you drive them normally and maintain the unit. Nope All i can say is i used mine for many years of abuse in the outdoors and out fishing ice fishing and it was unstoppable! Would recomend a toyota to every one and buy another one over all other vehicles. A little cold in the cab in the winter but never get stuck with a bit of weight. The Canadain winters in my area put this lil truck to the test and by far the best and most intelligent choice for winter driving.
