What it's Worth - Price Range Information
Just Sold on eBay Motors
The Just Sold on eBay Motors price range represents the lowest and highest completed sale price for this vehicle on eBay Motors within the last 90 days.
Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

Trans Ams are cool cars, reliability is ok. Motors can really take a beating, the bodies as far as water drainage were always an issue.

Flew down to Fort Meyers Fla to look at a 1981 white / red trans am . The sellers name is taforsale .The car was a rusted out bucket of bolts with a Earl Schieb paint job on it and nothing as represented in his pictures. he takes these cars to a beautiful place and takes very careful pictures only showing the good areas and makes the cars appear nicer than they really are . This guy is the rudest most unprofessional man Ive ever dealt with . I just cant understand why anyone would buy from him . He buys these cars and doesnt title them to avoid sales taxes leaving us to deal with the headache of straightening out the problem . aside from that he claims this is just a hobby yet he has as many as 4-5 cars for sale at any one time . he has an extensive civil court history of record in lee county and its all public record . Anyone thinking of buying from this man should not go by the feedback he has on here but rather look up his court records , its free and easy . This man cost me over 750 dollars in wasted travel expenses and thinks he should not have to care one bit . BUYER BEWARE !!!!

1981 Pontiac Trans Am: 1981 Trans Am - Pontiac should've kept the 400!

I've had mine for about 2 years now. When I got it, it had the original N/A 301 (4.9 Liter) smog motor. The transmission slipped, the motor smoked, and after about 3 months of daily driving it started a rod knock. I went & purchased a 6.6 liter Pontiac from a friend he had laying around for $100.00. Threw it in, and drove it around for a year until it blew the TH350 that was in the car. Found out my neighbor had a '68 OLDS 455 Rocket out of a '68 OLDS Delta 88. Coupled to it was a long shaft TH400. I bought the motor & transmission from him for a total of $50.00. I tore the TH400 down & beefed it up with some new alto red eagle clutches, and kevlar bands & kolene treated steels & a new 2400 stall 10" converter from J&W. Shortened my drive shaft down to 42" c/c & installed. Ran great for about 6 months until the $100.00 400" I'd bought a year earlier threw a rod & now I'm stroking the 6.6 to a 461" with Butler Performance's new forged rotating assembly. Hope to have it back on the road here shortly running more stout than ever - especially with an entirely new powertrain. Other than the crappy 4.9 (which I still have just for number's matching sakes), it's a great automobile & it'll be even more fun to drive once she's back on the road running down 4 bangers again!
