I was going to buy it now for 15000.00 as was a customer going to a week before for 16000.00 and ( did not have the finances after he got there), We Flew from Tx to Fla with cash to buy this car. When we checked the underside of the car, It was completely rusted out and very poorly patched with frame patches welded on frame with rust holes in it. Frame needed to be completely and correctly replaced. It was sprayed with the thick underliner and painted black but you could still see the holes in frame. They were too big to cover. Engine was advertised to have only 270 miles on a fresh rebuild, 30 lbs of oil pressure on a manual guage and when we checked it, it was a quart low on oil. Oil pressure should be at least 50 at a minimum. Also interior looks very good in pics. The sewing was rotting out and it is coming apart at the seams. I have 5, 67- 69 Barracudas, ALL are in much better condition than this one. One is a 67 Convertible. I have had A bodied Mopars for over 35 years and know them very well. They are normally VERY good performing and driving cars. It is advertised as a fresh restoration. NOT AT ALL. The only new part on that car was the convertible top had been replaced very recently. In the end, we did not buy this car because of the gross misrepresentation on it. The person later re advertised the car and sold it to someone else despite my writing ebay about it before It was run a 2nd time.
To write a review of 67 through 69 Barracudas in general,
They are a great underestimated muscle car, They weigh anywhere from 2800 lbs to 2900 lbs. Many came with a 318 to 340 small block engines and some with 440s and 383s which ran very strong for such a light car. They were not popular and many were junked through the 70s and 80s now making them much more rare than the Camaros and Mustangs they competed with. When I take one of these cars out, inevetibly, someone comes up to me and asks "What kind of Chevy is that"? When we took the 67, 340 steel headed, Barracuda to the race track, People thought nothing of it till they saw it make the first pass. There was a crowd of people coming to see that car, It was silent and "flew" That car runs a 6.33 in 1/8 mile and is all metal with the exception of a fiberglass hood. and It ran that off the foot brake, with no electronics on the car. I have always liked the Barracudas and have tried to collect them over the last 35 years. I am currently trying to downsize a little so I can manage them all. I will always be looking for one in GREAT shape, I guess thats habit. I think anyone who gets ahold of one of these cars in good shape will absolutely enjoy it. It has quite a few unique driving capabilities with the chrysler A-arm system and long wheel base, These compliment the handling ability of the cars.
