We purchased the 2005 Mini Cooper S after custom ordering it (which is normal, as most of the Minis have hundreds of possible customization combinations that you can choose from) and we are extremely satisfied with it. The S engine offers a lot more horse-power than the normal Cooper; the number does not sound like a lot, but when you take the small size and light weight of the car into consideration, it is really significant. BMW has done a great job in taking what was originally the British spirit and personality of the Mini, and merging it with tight German engineering and manufacturing tolerances. So in the end, the car feels and performs like an ultimate driving machine, but speaks better English and with a nicer accent :). Humor aside, even though the Mini is indeed quite small on the outside, the interior is large and comfortable enough (when seating 2) and tight but doable (when seating 4). The back seats collapse and thus the trunk can actually be quite big. When you seat in the driver's / front passenger's seat, you will immediately be impressed by the height of the ceiling - there is a lot of breathing space, you will never feel claustrophobic. On the contrary, as a previous Jetta driver I would say the Mini actually feels more spacious. Great job with that, and also with the interior design- it is unique, fun and very memorable. We ordered the iPod interface kit, and it works great- you can hide the iPod in the glove compartment, and control it all from the high-quality premium car stereo. All in all, this car is a true jewel and while it has quite a bit of horse-power to zip past those annoying slow drivers on the freeway, it is relatively friendly to the environment. I highly recommend the Mini to all of you who have a young spirit and want to rebel against the huge heavy gas guzzlers out there (such as Hummers, Excursions, etc. ridiculous tanks). Mini is, without exaggeration, a glimpse into the future of automotive design.
