I have had mine for about 4 months, 5k miles. I did not buy on Ebay. No problems or issues to report. I am averaging just under 29 mpg, mostly suburban driving. Got 35 mpg on a recent interstate highway trip averaging 75 mph.
You can find the low-sulfur diesel fuel at most every gas station now, it runs about a dime more that premium gas (which is what the other E-series run on), so given the mileage of the Bluetec is almost 50% better, paying a little more for the diesel isn't a problem. You can tell by the engine sound that it's a diesel, but only outside of the car. Still, it is a very quiet diesel, and you can't hear it from the inside. No diesel exhaust smell at all.
Overall, it's a smooth, comfortable, easy car to drive. Not as agile as a BMW or AMG, but the trade-off is a nicer ride and better bad weather performance. Have driven in light snow and ice now, and it handles better than expected, for a rear-wheel drive with all season tires.
Acceleration is strong, with the high torque from diesel, it feels faster than the E350, even though MB reports the 0-60 speed is the same. There is a very slight turbo lag, but not bothersome. Very quick passing acceleration.
Would strongly recommend the split folding rear seats, as they provide station wagon-like cargo space.
Cons: The Ipod device is very easy to hook up, but using it is somewhat confusing to figure out, due to poor instructions.
I wish MB would cover the service maintenance for the first 50k miles, like other luxury car makers do, seems kind of cheap.
