1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This is a great car and one of the best rides on the road,quite,handles great and very good power from the V6!

The Mercedes Benz E 320 seemed to be in excellent shape and the price seemed fair. I collect cars and have bought 20 or more on eBay with mixed results. I almost stopped after flying coast to coast and finding a Cadillac was not as represented but bought it anyway as I had made appointments and planned to drive it back to Maryland from San Diego. It had a different engine than represented and broke down about half way home and had to be shipped while I found a ride home. The MB Seller apparently has been found amiss and we have never received the manuals although he repeatedly promised they would be sent and had been included in the sale. I have bought three other manuals before finding one for a station wagon with 4matic drive and it is a year newer. The Seller used several names and is from eastern Europe, but one of the things that bothers me is that eBay canceled the listing after I had bought the MB, driven it home and was still trying to make pictures from the ad and obtain delivery on the manuals. Incidentally, I was not asserting anything negative about persons from eastern Europe. I bought another MB in California from a gentleman from Romania. It blew the engine two hours up I- 5 from LAX and he picked me up, hauled the car back to Anaheim and returned my funds. We need more Sellers like him but not the other two I have mentioned. It would also be a sound eBay policy to prevent the collection of fees for services not required by Governments and I have never bought from such Dealers and plan to boycott them in the future.

I have owned over 9 mercedes over the years and most of them all had troubles with the air conditioning systems. It seems these cars were not designed for the Southwest.

I think the best car to have if you can get a good deal. The car is luxury, style and at the same time durable and cost effective (due its good resale) unlike BMW and AUDI. Make sure that the car is in good condition when you buy and probably you can get some discount if the car is not serviced from authorized dealer

The car is smooth, powerful, and quiet; very nice ride. I drive 80 miles round trip 5 days a week, so there are 4 things I look for: reliability, comfort, performance and of course fuel mileage.

There are some quality issues that should not be happening to a car that ony has 60,000 miles and cost someone $52,000 new. The Accessory belt tensioner is making a loud clicking noise, the warning system gives false information (a tail light is out but they are all on and working, low washer fluid and the bottle is full). These are small things, but Mercedes used to be the quality car all others strived to be, now it looks like Lexus really has topped Mercedes-Benz in this department.
Comfort I can ride all day, and not be worn out from driving.
Performance - make sure you have the car pointed in the right direction - because when stepping on the throttle it is going to move out quick.

Fuel mileage average between city and highway is 26 MPG with a moderately aggressive driving style

Dealer has not returned deposit.
His argument is that he had to "wait" for payment and since final payment did not occur he jusitfies not returning my deposit!!!
I am very disappointed with this transaction. Especially since I was counting on Paypal helping me with getting my deposit back?! I felt secure paying the deposit even though it was questionable if this dealer would honor a professional transaction.
Paypal brushed of helping with a simple legal matter, returning a deposit, by claiming a deposit is not a "real" item?!

I love the car. It is beyond what was expected. The fuel milage around town was aound 30 mpg and on an out of state trip it was around 35 mpg! It hugs the road and accelerates like a sports car ... truly a classy ride.
