What it's Worth - Price Range Information
Just Sold on eBay Motors
The Just Sold on eBay Motors price range represents the lowest and highest completed sale price for this vehicle on eBay Motors within the last 90 days.
Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

1996 Mercedes-Benz E-Class: Needed a LOT of Repairs the worst seller
10/13/09

• Overall Satisfaction:
These cars are great, the year/model is very stylish and roomy but the condition that this car was sold in was horrible. It's just not right to treat a valuable, beautiful vehicle like this with such disrespect. First, the condition of this car was not as described in the advertisement, there should have been disclosures given. This car needs over $3000 in repairs due to poor care and deferred repairs. To date I cannot get a smog certificate for this vehicle because of the repairs that need to be done.
There are things missing, broken and inoperable. The transmission fluid leaks, oil leak at head gasket and transmission areas, the check engine light stays lit, turn signal lever is broken off and dangling, front exterior lights are inoperable the bulb sockets were burned out, ball joints worn, noisy belt tensioner, damage to exhaust system, rear break pads are to the metal... The wrong VIN was listed in the Ebay ad. These cars are very reliable and stylish, I would buy another one but definately not from this seller.

1996 Mercedes-Benz E-Class: buying a 96 mercedes e300d diesel car

These are excellent cars they are so reliable, safe fun to drive and best of all great on diesel 30 mpg this is city and highway driving not highway only this car will probably get 32 to 35 maybe higher on highway
When you drive one of these cars you can feel the quatliy that goes into these cars .
This car we purchased had 139,000 on it and should easy go another 200,000 before any real type of problems.
Mercedes diesels are probably the best engines in the world, i have owned 5 other mercedes diesel all from the 80s and all have over 250,00 plus miles and still running great.
The only quality issue i have with mercedes in general is the paint they don't put as much pride or quatliy into the paint jobs like they did in the 80s i have a 1982 300d turbo with the original paint and still looks pretty good, this 1996 e300d i see small chips which mercedes paint was always the best just like most european cars they just have better paint than american and japnese cars have .
I would rebuy this car over and over again i felt it was a good deal for what i paided.
The only thing to beware of in bying these cars or any higher end car is to make sure you can afford repairs they are more expensive than that good old chevy or ford
I hope this helps out everyone who is reading this to make desion or not

I purchased this car to replace my 1982 300D, which was getting a bit old. The 1996 300E is well made, great ride plus better MPGs then the older car. Mercedes is the car to buy new or used.

The car was very nice, had alittle rust not mentioned and the dryer on A/C did not work. The conditon of the car was over all great for the price. I would recommend this buyer, easy to purchase and work with. I am looking forward to another purchase. Well worth the flight to Jersey.

These diesel high mileage cars can still run OK, but with some problems, I had to fix the Preglue plugs cost about $500, then I took it to Mercedes dealer that they could not find out what's causing the transmission not to downshift when it's supposed to do so, e.g. uphill, which I have encountered shortly after buying the Vehicule, I was informed not to flash the transmission that may cause it to slip, but other than that the engine runs pritty well and the car is very confortable.
