What it's Worth - Price Range Information
Just Sold on eBay Motors
The Just Sold on eBay Motors price range represents the lowest and highest completed sale price for this vehicle on eBay Motors within the last 90 days.
Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

1999 Mazda MX-5 Miata: A Midlife Miata!!

My husband has wanted a Miata for as long as I can remember. Then
we moved to the Blue Ridge Mountains where it seemed that "everyone" had a convertible. He had looked at one that needed a new top, and I encouraged him just to wait. That very afternoon, for our 39th anniversary, I got on Ebay and found him a 1999 green Miata(new top!!) that was going to close in just a few hours. The price was better than the previous car he had looked at, and I was SHOCKED when no one outbid me. We drove to SC the very next morning to picked it up. He was like a child with a new toy! We enjoyed meeting the seller, too. My husband LOVES this little car! The forest green color looks great cruising the Parkway! It's not just a new toy--- it gets great gas mileage, too! We are both very happy with this purchase and are very thankful for Ebay.

1999 Mazda MX-5 Miata: Love This Car

I bought my 1999 about 5 years ago from a BMW dealer in Pittsburg who advertised it on e-Bay. The description was perfect and I had absolutely no disappointments. I drove it home to NJ with a grin from ear to ear the whole way.
Thsi car is without a doubt the most reliable, most fun, most dependable, most economical (to run and service) and most pleasant to look at of all the cars I've ever owned. It appears to be bullet-proof. So far, after 5 years, I've replaced the battery. Thats' it. And regular oil changes. The top goes down in about 20 seconds and up in about one minute. Without any exaggeration, my '99 Miata is more fun, more pleasant to drive, and better built after almost 11 years than my daughter-in-law's brand new Pontiac Solstice.
The trunk will hold a weekend's luggage for two, while the Pontiac holds nothing but the top. If you want a fun, affordable, reliable, dependable car that handles like it's on rails and turns heads even after 10-11 years, buy yourself a Miata. It's a mini vacation every time you get behind the wheel.

1999 Mazda MX-5 Miata: Beware
07/14/09

The Miata was dirty through out, 6 inch tear in the drivers leather seat, a hole in the back rest. Passenger seat had many cracks. The two tone dash; the lighter color was dirty and smudged. The top was filthy even though the listing said it had always been garaged, there were pine needles down in the folds and the top was filthy. The passenger window would not roll down. It sounded like both front wheel bearings needed replacement. All that for a car which was on the high end of book value for the year and mileage. The engine started right away and I did not notice any smoke. The shifter shifted easily and the clutch did not seem to slip. I did not take delivery of the car. I had paid for it because that is what the seller required and in the end it cost me $800 for the experience. If you are going to purchase a car long distant, be sure and ask for lots and lots of pictures. Insist that they be close up pictures so you can easily see any flaws. Do not make full payment until you see the car in person and even then discuss what it will cost to get out of the deal if the car is not what you expected. If you don't like the cost of backing out then don't make an offer.

Loved the price, and the reliability. It handles decent and makes you feel like you are driving a more expensive luxury convertible. The ride is a bit more stiff than I had expected.

Was looking for a 'Vette, but with the price of gas (and afterthought insurance), got into a 99 Miata last year. Did not want to buy new just in case I did not care for a convertible over the long haul, but to date, I love it. Miata power train is simply a Ford Escort with a different drive system, but drives a whole lot different than an Escort. Great for road trips... live in Louisiana, and have been to Deal's Gap in NC and west to the Rockies. If you like driving hard in switchback curves, etc, or simply an easy drive with the top down, this car is what you need. Easy to work on, inexpensive, turns on a dime. One thing I learned was in mountains, if you can keep it on cruise on long inclines, it holds speed; otherwise, sometimes you are playing catchup with the engine. On a road course, the Miata will smoke the Corvette easily. There are many support web sites for Miatas, and those have been helpful (ie: the rear of Miata's are known to "shimmy" around 65 mph). Mileage has ranged between 25 and 37 (dependant on altitude). Bottom line, I WILL buy another one at some point.

1999 Mazda MX-5 Miata: Top notch, but tight fit.

Handling, reliability and build quality are top notch on this little gem. But, little is what it is. If you are tall or heavy, this might not be the car for you. For an average size driver it is tight, so you who are big and tall should find one you can borrow for the weekend and see if you are comfortable before making a purchase. If it fits you, then you will thoroughly enjoy this car- it handles and drives beautifully! Oh, and you can leave the toolbox at home- you won't be needing that as these great little cars are dependable and well built. It's no wonder so many Miata Clubs are popping up all over- people love these sweet little rides! Mine is a gen2 1999 with 84K - still looks good and drives like new!

I didn't purchase because the seller was dishonest. The car had much wrong that he didn't describe including hail damage and no title. After driving four hundred miles, spending money on fuel, losing a day traveling I was very unhappy. I was unable to leave feedback about this jerk because I didn't pay and I end up looking like a non payer.

1999 Mazda MX-5 Miata: A fast and sporty sports car for less

I like how the car is small sleek sporty and affordable. Mine has a lot of performance features, so it can really go for a 4 cylinder smaller car. It's as good as you can get for a sports car as far as gas mileage goes. Easy to put the top down and go in the good weather or get it up in a hurry when its raining. Obviously this car isn't good in the snow because of how light it is, but I manage to get around in it ok.
