1998 Jeep Wrangler

I have owned Jeeps and love the product. You will get many years of service from Jeep when maintained. When the roof is down and doors off its like being on a four wheel motorcycle.

I wanted a beach car. Its perfect. Its very reliable in time also. I do not recommend the automatic one.

I like the jeep, simple and reliable. fun all year, can take off the top and go four wheeling all year in any conditions. This is an extra car for my family, I would think twice if it was my only car. can not carry people comfortably and is very small inside.

I bought this Jeep because I knew I wanted a Jeep Wrangler. I love the rugged openness of the Jeep Wrangler. This model of the Jeep is very comfortable especially through rugged terrain. It is such a fun vehicle to drive! I love the half doors, the seats and the size. It just whips in anywhere.

Cons - beware if you purchase a Jeep Wrangle from anywhere that it snows any time of the year. Make sure to ask about salt damage, of which can be the demise of a Jeep. If the owner has not kept up the vehicle with hosing it off after traveling through salt and snow, it will deteriorate the vehicle very quickly. We have to replace everything underneath the vehicle to keep it from falling apart from salt damage. Very Expensive!

The only thing I would change about this model of the Jeep Wrangler would be tilt wheel. I did not realize that was such a big deal to me until the purchase of this Jeep. We owned a 2007 Jeep Rubicon and there are still a lot of fun things about the 1998 Jeep that the Rubicon does not compliment.

I have been looking for a Jeep in my area for quite a while now. Being in Wisconsin, all the Jeeps here are already being put to good use in the snow in winter, or the mud in the woods in summer. Not to mention the fact that I couldn't seem to find what I was looking for in my budget range. After finding my Jeep TJ on E bay, I contacted the seller who was vary helpful in resolving any fears I had about buying a vehicle online that was 3 states away! And to top it all off, when I won the bid for the Jeep my bank informed me that it was blue booked at double what I payed for it. I would definitely buy a vehicle this way again!

It's what I wanted, with all its idiosyncrasies( sp? ). Decent description and fit my budget - just wish it had been closer to save on the cost to get it home. All my decisions, no fault at all of the seller! It's a fun vehicle for sure!

My husband and I recently purchased a 1998 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Edition from a private Ebay seller who resides in a nearby City & State. The vehicle had very low mileage for the year and was in great physical shape for its age, although the seller listed the vehicle as "mechanically sound," we later learned that this was not entirely true. We managed the drive home with little or no issue, HOWEVER the front end "felt" out of balance and proved to be out of alignment as was indicated by an obvious "shimmy" at speeds in excess of 55 MPH. The serpentine belt was severely worn and in dire need of replacement. All in all, we are pleased with our purchase and as anyone who has ever owned a Jeep Wrangler will tell you, "It's a Jeep thing...If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand!" Ultimately, the only "discomfort" we encountered with this purchase was the seller's insistence that it was a "cash only" transaction. The vehicle may still need a new idler arm but we will attend to that when and if it becomes necessary.
