2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I own and have owned a number of older Jeeps in the past, and I will be honest, I was hesitant to buy one with heated leather seats of all things. But, having children oftentimes dicates what we buy. But truth be told, I think I got the best of both worlds here. I have a functional vehicle that provides ease of access to all areas, capability of getting my children and cargo around AT THE SAME TIME, surefooted enough to get around in all types of nasty weather, ON AND OFF ROAD, and has the reliability of what I have come to expect from a JEEP! When giving my scores, the only thing I would have to take a mark off for is the type of push-pin plastic connectors that hold the door panel to the metal door. Over time, the stock ones seemed to pop out if you shut the door too hard. Was an easy fix though, better quality replacement ones were found at a local Advance Auto Parts for a few bucks. Was just an annoying problem that I feel for the higher end Jeep, should not have happened. My particular WJ has the venerable 4.0 inline six engine, which, I would have to say, is the ONLY engine that you should have in a Jeep. We are talking about an extremely RELIABLE engine that just doesn't know how to say quit. I currently have two other Jeeps with the same engine, combined mileage between the three is in excess of 700,000 miles. This one only has 98K, so you do the math. RELIABLE! RELIABLE! RELIABLE!

I LOVE MY JEEP!! I only wish I had looked for one with more options. This is a VERY NICE ride. The 4-wheel drive is wonderful!! HIGHLY recommended! You won't be sorry with the quality and lasting manufacturing of this vehicle!!! VERY VERY NICE!!!!!!

Maybe my Jeep was/is a lemon. I purchased it new. Right now I'm having a new engine installed after only 88,000 miles. AND YES I REPLACED THE OIL REGULARLY! First, I've had to replace the brakes. Next, the door makes this strange sound when I lock it or unopen it. The driver seat is not sliding properly (it gets stuck so I have to get that fixed), I can feel the heat on the heated seat in one spot where its just plaint TOO HOT, I need new shocks, I've got to replace the speakers, its been one stupid thing after another. The exterior looks fairly good though. I'm not planning on buying another one and I don't know how I'm going to pay for all of these repairs but I don't want a car note. Somebody give me an address and phone/name at Chrysler so I can tell them what I really think of this vehicle.

It's a JEEP and performs well off-road stock or can be made better with lots of aftermarket add-ons such as lifts, skids, etc.

The 4.0L I-6 is a very dependable motor and good for 4x4, but lacks the mileage advantage most expect with a 6 cylinder motor. The 4.7L V8 has more power and torque with roughly the same MPG.

All in all the JEEP Grand Cherokee is a good 4x4 with more uses than just going to the mall or getting the kids to soccer practice... like off-road trails with dirt, rocks & mud.

Great SUV have 118K miles and still runs great. have a 2000 Toyota 4Runner limited, the Jeep is far superior to the 4runner is all ways. jeep did a great job in design of the this SUV.
