After many months of research, I purchased a 2001 Jaguar XKR. I decided on the XKR over a XK8, because I didn't want any regrets, wishing I had the extra horses that comes with the XKR. I am glad I chose the XKR. I love the looks, with the louvered hood, bigger tires, it is the best looking car on the road. I went with a coupe, which IMO has better looking lines than the vert. And in my area, there is only about three days each year that the weather is right to have a top down! Too hot, too cold, rainy, snow or too windy for wife's doo!
The factory GPS system is awesome! Great system that is now 8-9 years old, but still state of the art!
I chose a 2001 model year, since the earlier XK models had more issues with timing chain tensioner failures, and by 2001, most of the issues have been corrected. The 2003 and up models are really nice, but were out of my price range.
If you are thinking of buying a Jaguar, go for it. You only live once. Get an XKR and you will have to get used to a crowd of fans checking out your car, at gas stations, shoping centers, etc. This car will put a smile on your face, every time you drive her!
