1994 Jaguar XJ6

I have always like the Jaguar XJ6,had an older one a couple years back, also from an ebay deal.This 94 woth 233k miles drove back home for 9 hours ,with no squeaks or rattles.And I got 21 mpg with it!...Just a great car and a great seller!

Great ride with good accelertion on the highway. Although the driver's seat is adjustable, the movement is somewhat limited. Rather dismayed to find there is no glove box, and the console is TINY! If you have a drink in one of the two cup holders located at the front of the console, you have to maneuver around it to shift into and out of gear. Fair mileage (24-26 highway), but you also have to use premium gas.

Always wanted a Jag & this one was in my price range. However, in the three months I've had it, I've put about $3000.00 into it - all new brakes, new valve cover gasket, and new AC compressor. Cost of parts is outrageous and one mechanic said the brakes went bad because of so much rust (I later discovered the car originally came from Illinois - evidently, they use salt on the roads in winter). It didn't come with an Owner's Manual, and when I purchased one on eBay, I discovered that not all '94 models are exactly alike. The seller of the manual (who graciously allowed me to return it) discovered that some '94's were manufactured later in that year and, thus, more like a '95 model. Still looking for the right manual.

Still, it's a great road car and fun to drive. I guess if I were looking for "practical," I wouldn't have bought a Jag?

I bought this car from a guy on ebay and he had me write my feedback in his office.
It looks and sounds great but has a few minor flaws.

The electric door locks don't work. A rear passenger door does not open from the outside.

A lightning symbol on the dash light stays lit, and I don't know what that means cos I don't have the owners manual. The car came with only one key.

Not my first Jag, so I should have known better. Jags are really impressive handlers, nicely sculpted, powerful, and totally unreliable. I purchased the Jag last year unseen based on the sellers reviews (mostly as a buyer), and his description of the car as excellent. So far I've spent about 4500.00 plus the original cost of the vehicle on repairs. The subframe needed rebushing (F&R), the rotors, brakes, tires, radiator, head gasket, air conditioner, and a load of other mechanical parts were replaced. The wood on the doors, and the ski slope (including the ash-tray) needed replacement. The usual door problems, and the electrical problems to the rear sub-units are being taken care of now. The car has a total of 103,000 miles. I've put on 3250 of them including the 1100 miles from LA. I forgot to mention that the seller said the car had a fresh paint job with a six year guarantee. Too bad the paint was put over rust spots, and the paint was an Earl Schib cheapy. The car does turn heads, and if it ever comes out of the shop, it might be worth having (after another paint job). Maybe the seller's description of excellent shape was not altogether correct, and my not flying down to look at the car was certainly a mistake. If you can't see it...don't buy it. And if it's a Jag, give more than a little thought before the big buy....

Love Jaquar cars, but this one need alot of work. It was not treated very well. Bought it because the price was right. But, the seller was not totally honest about all that was wrong with it. The car would not start again, after we drove it. Found out it has computer problems. Even with all the problem, the car is well worth fixing up.

...for now. The car looks great and is still a head turner. The performance is pretty good for such a big car and the ride is pretty good. However, the electricals are cheap and falling apart. The door handle mechanism is made of what looks like cheap plastic and the list goes on and on. At least I didn't pay much for it, it has relatively low mileage, and used parts seem to be pretty easy to find. And did I mention that it is still a head turner?
