What it's Worth - Price Range Information
Just Sold on eBay Motors
The Just Sold on eBay Motors price range represents the lowest and highest completed sale price for this vehicle on eBay Motors within the last 90 days.
Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

2005 Jaguar X-Type: 2005 Jaguar X-Type - Style over Substance

Love it for - the styling. This car has all the beauty of a Jag, in a smaller and more affordable package. Inside, the wood trim, leather seating and controls are all quality controls and well placed.

Hate it for - the transmission. At only 9,000 miles, I had to have the transmission replaced. Although it was under warranty, I must admit that this repair doesn't bode well for Jag. Plus it's only been 1,000 miles since the replacement and the shifting is already uneven between gears.

Other little problems - Both key fobs have already had problems. I was sent a letter by Jag that they were recalled, but that was 6 months ago and the dealer still hasn't gotten my replacements in. Both visor mirrors stopped closing within the first month of having the car.

Jag Dealer - It might just be my dealer, but they don't install a lot of confidence in their brand. They weren't surprised about the transmission, mirrors or keys. And, while my car was in the shop for 2 weeks, they gave me a Ford Taurus. All other luxury places I've dealt with give you a loaner of similar stature when your car is in the shop.

I've had a Mercedes and a Lexus and was very excited to finally drive a Jag. But I will not buy another one. The brand and the mechanics just don't live up to the beautifully designed car that this is.

I love my new Jaguar. I purchased my '05 X-Type 3.0 VDP Edition Jaguar on Ebay just 5 weeks ago. I have always wanted a Jaguar, but never thought I could afford one. Thanks to Ebay, I was able to purchase my dream car for 30% less than its Kelly Blue Book value. It has an incredible interior along with amazing power. This is one fabulous car - I feel like a million bucks everytime I drive it. Plus, it came with the remaining 50K mi factory warranty, which includes free oil changes and 10K mile tuneups.

However, I did run into one problem... the gas tank door. As I was hanging up the gas dispenser nozzel, I lightly bumped into my gas tank door. Suddenly, it snapped and fell to the ground. Yes... it broke off! To my surprise, it was made of plastic! When I bumped it, it apparently cracked down the center and left me with half of a gas tank door cover, which was connected at the hinges. I was able to snap the other piece back into place thanks to the locking mechanism; however next time I want to pump gas, half of my gas tank door is going to fall to the ground when I press on the gas tank unlock button - now that's classy. : /

So... the moral of the story is... Avoid self service gas stations if you own a Jaguar... your gas tank door might break off.

Almost 60,000 miles and I have had not one problem with my 2005 Jag X-type.
I love how it tears thru the snow and performs around the curves in the warm summer days. I love how all the windows go completely down not part way in the rear. And when I put the moon roof back, its like a convertible.
There is alot of class in this midsize jag. I have compliments on it every day. Most think I have spent alot when I feel it was reasonably priced.
This is my first Jag and I had concerned but reviewed the cars alot. I stayed away from 2002 and 2003 years as I have heard they had issues. But Jag made over 1000 component changes in these cars and 2004 and up seem to measure up to the standards. I am now looking for my next one. Leather, wood trim, wood steering wheel and dozens of power options make this a power packet purchase. .

I've bought serveral cars from ebay and I've found that if you are dealing with a reputable dealer as in new car dealer they generally tell the truth about the produsts they sell. I have been stung by individuals occasionally probally because they have a difficult time looking at their cars objectably. For instance if they replaced the interior or paint 3 years ago to them it is still new. So it all comes down to doing your homework ask a lot of questions
do an inspection if possible and good luck. The Jag I bought was from a great dealer I bought it because they are great cars Inexpensive Reliable and make a great Appearance for my purpose.

This car is built great and performs as a luxury sedan should. Tight cornering, all tires hug the road even at highs speeds. The engine and trany work great together except at initial take off - not a lot of response from either with the petal to the floor until after the trany switches from 1st to 2nd gear then the power flows from the engine to the trany and translates to fast acceleration for an AWD vehicle. Even at over 110 MPH the Jag just wants to go! Other motorists see it on the road and stare - great looking car!

I purchased this car from Tarkington motors in Arkansas three states away from home we usually do not mention the dealership however, i found this company to be quite reputable and it was a unbelievable drive back, we encountered some extremely bad weather conditions. winds in excess of 85 miles an hour, strong enough to blow tracker trailers on there side. What a machine this car responded to flying objects, stuck to the road like glue snd stop on a dime. The all wheel drive in the x type is also outstanding it traveled thru mud and rain like a suv, handle like a porsche and had the comfort of a continental, couple that with a V6 24v 3.0 liter engine and you have all the power you need with reasonable gas mileage. i have own several makes and models over the years, this is my first jaguar actually bought it for the wife, made ma ma very happy and it will not be our last. all around five star rating
