Well, i've owned my Expedition for about 6 years. It's a 2000 model, 4x4 XLT. I bought it in Alaska, drove down the Alacan with a trailer, put about 70,000 miles on it and the only thing thats ever quit in all that time is 1 alternator (the replacement was faulty) and the #1 ignitor. Thats it! If you want dependible, this is the epitome of dependible. The 4.6L v8 is the same motor police cruisers use (except under-built for longevity) I've used it to pull out my jeep when it got stuck feet deep in mud, i've used it to right rolled vehicles, i've pulled cars out of snowbanks, I've driven home in blizzards, i've caravaned in tornados. I've trailered my cherokee behind it, and I've even driven it from the Alaskan Pacific to the Florida Gulf. After all these years, the undercarrage seal is starting to need to be replaced, the door seals are getting all goofy and need to be replaced and some of the paint is starting to wear (esp. around the wacky door seals). I figure a little touchup, another oil change and some TLC and it'll be ready for another 70,000 miles.
The Undercarrage is still rust free, the motor compartment is clean, oil free. The A/C needs to be re-charged but it still blows semi-cold air. The heater blows super hot, the remote start still works great even! Just one more reason why i'll keep buying Ford - The company that doesn't ask for your tax dollars!
