1991 Ford E-Series Van

Better than I expected! Better then described!

The van was as advertised--and more. I am absolutely delighted with the van.

The fuel economy was better than I expected.
I drove it across the Mojave Desert with the A/C on in 106 degree heat and the temperature gauge never went up! But I was cool in the air conditioned comfort!
The seats were more comfortable than my other vans AND they have arm rests so I can take naps between curves (joke) but they are comfy!
And the SportsMobile additions are very well done--they've stood up to 20 years of service!

It's a great book for the expert as well as the novice. It's an invaluable tool for everything from doing your own tune-up to troubleshooting mechanical or electronic problems. I would recommend this book to anyone that wants to work on their E series van.

Drove 5 hours to complete purchase. Ambulance / van seemed ok, but there apparently was a fuel leak that I was unable to detect in the rain and wind. I discovered the leak after parking the vehicle overnight on my own driveway. This leak should have been detectable by the seller since he claimed to have parked the vehicle in the firehouse garage. With most vehicle purchases, I would have had an inspection done, but I trusted that a firehouse would disclose any defects...not true. Repair cost over $800 because the replacement parts were no longer being manufactured. Buyer beware...even those people you think thatyou can normally trust.

Photos on ebay must have been digitally enhanced as the van was not as pristine as pictured. I rejected the van for the following reasons. I crawled under the van and wiped away fresh clear oil behind the rear main oil seal. the drivers seat was in a fixed position unable to adjust. The spare had a lock on the cover, no key. I can not smell however my wife and daughter got in the van when I took it for a test drive and said there was a heavy Oder of cleaner masking an Oder problem. After the test drive I crawled under the van and found the clear fresh oil behind the rear main oil seal. If I took the van from Florida to Delaware and the seal blew the repair cost could have exceeded the initial purchase price. the reason I bid on it was the photos and the sellers reputation. I was going to drive back and make stops along the way, however I did not buy the van and had to fly my family home. Had I walked in off the street and reviewed the van as stated, I would have rejected it. Visually it showed a lot of promise, physically it was a disappointment. The thing I dislike the most is my cost in time and money. Will I do this again, not likely.
