I've always adored large sedans. Their power and comfort make even short trips to the grocery store enjoyable. The 2006 Ford Crown Victoria offers full-size car buyers plenty of room, ample V8 power, and useful features sometimes not available in smaller, more fuel-efficient automobiles.
At first glance, the exterior is much like previous Crown Victorias: simple and elegant. Graceful curves adorn the hood and trunk while a chrome grille and door handle surrounds add just enough shine to the body. The LX model comes standard with 17 inch alloy wheels. A typical four door land yacht, the Crown Vic's presence never fails to turn heads. Inside, the cabin is cavernous with the capability to seat 4 comfortably and 5 semi-comfortably. A simple analog/digital dash keeps the driver informed of the car's fuel economy (instant and average), distance to empty, and trips. The LX version includes a premium cd/cassette radio with steering wheel mounted controls.
Leg and shoulder room abounds in the front, and diminishes only slightly in the rear. Someone above 6 feet tall would probably opt to sit in the front, however, the rear seats are more than capable of providing ample leg room. Soft leather graces the seating surfaces and 8 way power driver/passenger seat controls with lumbar support comes standard on LX. Get out of the car and open to trunk to discover the grand canyon. Crown Victoria provides room for occupant luggage plus a couple of golf bags.
Powering this massive sedan is a brisk 4.6 liter V8, turning out 225 horsepower capable of rocketing the car from 0-60 in approximately 9 seconds. Fuel economy is phenomenal. I averaged 18 mpg city and 26 highway. Passing power is always present and the four speed automatic transmission shifts silky smooth. As one of the last body-on-frame cars produced in America, the Crown Victoria's ride is velvety and forgiving. Some might find that it's too forgiving, but of course this isn't a sports coupe. Equipped with optional traction control, the Crown Vic handles quite well rain or shine, and the suspension offers enough driver feedback to keep the car between the lines even under hard acceleration.
If you're interested in a reliable, powerful, and large sedan then consider the Ford Crown Victoria. People might call you old, but who cares? When they ask to ride with you to the mall, tell them to take a hike!
