2004 Dodge Viper

I had always wanted one of these cars from the time they were first released. I bought one in 2004. It was expensive but I have never once regretted it. They are everything you've suspected they were and more. 500 hp and 525 ft lbs of torque on paper is a totally different matter as opposed to on pavement. I've never been good about wearing a seatbelt but from the moment I first stepped down on the gas I have been faithful with this cars belt. It is not for the faint hearted. It takes time to learn what you can and cannot do with it. You are rewarded by taking the time to learn this. It is great for getting to meet people. It never fails to attract a crowd. You don't have to drive it fast or hard to get attention. It looks like you're flying when it's parked. There are lots of 'vettes out there. Very few Vipers. Nothing sounds like it either. That V-10 makes a very unusual howl. If there are any negatives, it would be the ride is rough and can be a little hot. But the stiff suspension is necessary for what the car is: a performance vehicle. It corners really really hard! I've never been able to make it slip in a turn. The motor sits behind the front wheels for balance sake so it is pushed into the leg-space a bit. But you really don't notice it once you're rolling. You've got lots of other things on your mind by that time. The AC works great overcoming the engine heat. The stereo is tremendous though I must admit I usually have it off so I can listen to the motor. I've taken lots of people for drives in it who own other performance vehicles from corvette to porsche and they have each and every one of them commented on the fit and finish of the car as well as the performance. You will hear detractors who have never been in one but not much from someone who has. Especially if you have let them drive it. I have had zero issues with reliability. And I drive it. I have logged more than 10,000 miles on it, mostly road trips with business concerns. The only true wish I have of it is that I would like to have cruise control for the long drives. I have a tendency to drive really slow when using my foot only. There is an aftermarket one out there but I've not made the effort to address it. So how big of a deal can it be? Mine is not for sale here. So I don't have an ulterior motive is pumping the issue. If you want to meet people, strike up conversations, and be the big dog on the street without having to actually prove it, a viper will do that for you. I cannot begin to guess how many photos have been taken of the car, many of them while driving down the hiway. I have had one traffic accident occur because of it. Rush hour traffic and too many heads watching me instead of each other. I could talk about it all day but I won't. You will not regret having owned one of these. Talk to anyone who has and I'm sure they'll say the same thing. I doubt you 'll get that testimony from 'vette owners. Good luck.
