2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser

I'm the proud owner of a high-mileage (168k) 2004 Dream Cruiser with the HO Turbo and manumatic transmission, that still looks and drives like a new car!
The vehicle has been stone reliable, with only a cat and O2 sensor replacement out of the ordinary.
The best upgrades have been Sensatrac rear shocks and a nice set of Pirelli P7000 tires, upgraded to P225s.
The car is FAST, looks really cool, is easy to maintain (oil and filter changed every 2500 - 3000 miles, due to the turbo) and gets over 20 smiles per gallon (LOL) and DOES NOT REQUIRE PREMIUM (runs just fine on 89 octane ethanol blend). The factory stereo is one of the best-sounding ones I have ever heard - the in-dash 6-disc CD changer is a nice accessory.
Many of us who own PTs never take advantage of the car's versatility, but it can configure to handle large items as well and 4 passengers in comfort.
This car's coolness factor is hard to overstate! This must be one of the best bargains in a used car out there today!
My only complaint is the rediculously-large turning radius (inspired by Peterbuilt, I am guessing) and the slightly sub-par fuel economy (read here 'fun' to drive).

Great
I am really happy with the unique looks and performance of my turbo PT Cruiser. It has a great ride height, excellent storage capacity with useful removal of the rear seats for added capacity, trunk has a removeable shelf which I have found to be very handy, plenty of cup holders and personal storage compartments throughout, passenger seat folds into a desk, and it will seat 5 people comfortably. It is an excellent everyday car and it's FUN to drive and own. This is one of three cars out of a total of 10 cars that I have owned that I have truly loved to own. I highly recommend the PT Cruiser.
Bad
Not a very good turning radius. Rear brakes are known to squeak even under normal wear. Side pillars by the windows must be maintained to keep the shinny black luster. Headlights become hazed and cloudy with age. Oil pressure sending units are known to break and be unreliable with this car, however they are not expensive to replace.

This car is an excellent value, with a very logically arranged interior, unique exterior, good performance with the turbo engine, and is considered a reliable. Gas mileage has been between 20-25 MPG. I would purchase this vehicle again, and am currently looking for another one to purchase.

Beware of manual shifts, the cables have be replaced at $400.00. The keys are prooving to be hard or real expensive ( $100. each ) to get, if you have the sentry key ( large plastic head ). Engine seems to run "dirty " with clogged o2 sensors and plugged pvc valve at 35,000 miles. The car is not bad buy again beware of older cars.
