We bought our PT new in 2000, one of the first out of the factory. It has been an extremely reliable car, especially considering it was the first of a new model. The few minor complaints we have were not the fault of the car, but the service at the original dealer. We finally have another, considerably better dealer, La Brea Motors in Los Angeles, that is very attentive and competent. We have about 85,000 miles on it, and everything works perfectly, with no serious problems...the engine, transmission, cooling system, AC, stereo, have all worked flawlessly, and the interior coachwork has been comfortable and durable. Only complaint is noisy brakepads, though they DO last a long time, and get quieter as they warm up with use. The clear coat paint has also held up well, and it is a RED Car..not my choice...my wife HAD to buy it off the showroom floor, and it was the first car the dealer received. Mixed driving gets 18 MPG, partly because the car is rather heavy for its size, open road driving improves to about 25 MPG, but it takes regular. Slow off the line, but very quick on grades when it revs happily, kicked down into 3rd gear and can keep up with the fast lane traffic. No question...this car is a little bit kooky, a little bit spooky, but my wife loves it, though our three sons say no thank you to any offer of the car as a hand me down....too much of a dorkmobile!
