2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500: 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 W/T V6 Auto

The 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Work Truck with the V6, Automatic Transmission is a very comfortable, perfectly sized, well equipped truck. The V6 is very economical yet very powerful engine. The transmission shifts very smoothly witout hesitation. The interior is very comfortable and roomy. The set covering looks good and is also comfortable. The steering and handling are excellent and much better then any car that I have driven. The paint looks beautiful without any flaws or imperfections. The instrumentation layout is very practical and easy to see and read. The lighting is well placed and illuminates the cab well at night. The engine compartment is clean, and easy to work on, especially the air filter. All fluid fills are easy to reach and visible to find easily.
The only negative is the 4 wheel disc brakes being changed to front disc / rear drum in 2005 which carried on in later models. The braking is good but would have preferred 4 wheel disc for performance and ease of maintenance. Also, the headlamp on feature must be turned off when not wanted / needed & an "on / off" switch would be nice so the daytime running lamps do not have to be turned off every time. The door sill plates were removed many years ago and to finish off the sill, new plates must be purchased & installed. If plates are not added, the painted area on the door sill scratches easily on vehicle exit.
Lastly, would like to see the overhead roof lamps available again as an option on half ton pickups. AND the roof lamps could go back to the 'old' 5 tear drop style lamps and not like the new 'bar' lamps which look bad. At least offer them as an option. They dress up the truck, really give great visibility at night for the truck, and just look good!!!!!! Would like to see the inside of the bumpers sprayed also to minimze rust. Would like to see wheel wells painted black on the bed, looks alot better then color showing above rear tire!
And I wish Chevrolet would get rid of that awful looking "bar" across the front of all their cars & trucks. Don't they remember when Chevrolet trucks had great grills, ala, 1972 as an example. I bought this Chevy truck becase the bar had 'black' end pieces under the headlamps and not that ugly bar across the front!!!!!!

Really like the way it drives and the overall appearence is fantastic. It was well worth the price and was almost in perfect condition. The only problem is the CD player was advertised and does not work. I still think the truck was a great buy.

2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500: I am very satisfied with my truck

10/03/08
• Overall Satisfaction:
I love everything about it. I thought it was a great deal. We buy our work vehicles from Texas Direct Auto. I would not buy anymore vehicles from anyone else. They are at the top of my list. I will have buy more in the future. Thanks for everything. This is a very easy and safe way to purchase vehicles.

2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500: Silverado xtra cab

08/23/08
• Overall Satisfaction:
I bought my 2006 Silverado T2 with 15k on the odometer. I have the 5.3 w/auto trans. I just returned from a 1200 mile trip. I averaged 24mpg. I was very comfortable. The cab is very quiet. The best average gas mileage was 28mpg at 60 mph. The only thing I have done to the truck is I put a K&N drop in air filter in when I bought it. The cab is roomy. The back seat is good for my two boys. I like the 60/40 front seat. The extra cab allows for a longer bed.

This truck is perfect! I first got it a few months ago, but my parents have owned Silverado's my whole life. This truck is ultimately the perfect ride. Very smooth riding and comfortable with heated seats, a sunroof and so many buttons and gadgets I had to use the book to figure it out. Falling in love with this tuck, I think it could be the ONE!!

2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500: no complaints, super comfortable, easy on gas

12/25/07
• Overall Satisfaction:
Great mileage, no problems, love heated seats and bose system. Started coasting it at 5000 miles, and now have 15000 miles. Put it in neutral, coast to changing lights, leave in neutral at the light till it turns green, and the same downhill, and on roads you regularly drive. In southwest Florida, with mixed town and interstate driving, I have stayed over 21.3 mpg on the computer and verified at fillups with the trip recorder. 5.3 V8, 373 gear. Good stuff.
