I purchased this vehicle because I have always wanted one, I received some windfall money when my father died, my birthday was near, and the time was just right to buy one. I LOVED it online, it was perfect, from the pictures. The perfect color, pearl white. The perfect interior, blue plush. Low miles (or so I was lead to believe), all major components worked as they should (or so I was told), and it was near enough to go and bring it home, rather than having to have it trucked. WOW, did I get a wrong number!
I called and spoke to the dealership that was selling it, more than once, inquiring about the mechanical components, about specifically what it might need to do a cross country trip, or long trips soon after purchase. I was told, repeatedly, that all it needed was some tlc", but everything worked fine on it, it needed no major parts or repairs anytime soon. What a crock of caca!
I have poured nearly $3,000. in repairs since I got it a few weeks ago. Not tiny little things, either. Brakes, axle bearings, entire exhaust was blown out, bearings were rusted solid, it was a miracle I made it home. Radio wouldn't work...it needs speakers, which someone had removed every single one. Neither door would shut right, nor lock. Side mirrors had to be replaced, they were rusted to the point they would not move. Several hoses and belts had to be replaced immediately, as they were so dry rotted that they disintegrated once I tried to drive.
Initially, I had one of my friends drive down to get it, 300 miles away. I paid him a few hundred dollars to do so, since it was to be a simple thing. He made it 3 miles from the dealership before it laid down. His assumption was the thermostat had stuck shut, causing the car to overheat. He had no extra money, and had to be back to Charleston, so he had to leave the car. I spoke with the owner, after many frantic minutes of waiting for him to get back to me after I called him, then waiting an hour or so again for him to call back with a solution. He then called saying he would have it towed to his mechanic, to determine the problem. I expressed my displeasure, he was rude and I said I thought, considering how it had all played out, it should be his responsibility. Not like I had had the car for more than 10 minutes!!!(I actually had not yet paid eyes on it, just went on his word as to what a great buy it was...)
His mechanic called me a few days later, to advise that when I paid the tow bill, and the thermostat and alternator parts and labor, he would release my car! Over $300.! PLUS, now I had to spend several hundred dollars more to go again to retrieve it, and pay someone to go along to take me there. I was furious. I advised him that I would shout to the world and anyone who would listen, as to his character, his business ethics, his lack of professionalism. He was ambivalent, said when I paid the bill I could have my car. (Mind you, legally, I at NO TIME gave this repair shop permission to do anything, including tow, this vehicle that was now in my possession/title. The dealership I purchased it from did, and they should have to repair it.
Eventually, the owner of the dealership agreed to pay the bill, providing I gave him positive feedback on ebay (blackmail, since I would NOT have, for sure!) I argued extensively, since I still had yet to lay eyes on the csar, and had to now come up with the money to go get it, again.
He in no way deserves positive feedback. 'Nuff said.GRR
