I did not purchase this vehicle. The corvette was VERY misrepresented in the items description in a conversation with the seller. This vehicle had numerous mechanical, cosmetic, and warranty issues that the seller did not disclose.
I have spoken with a working mechanic of over 40 years who is a Minnesota state certified department of transportation inspector about this car. The item was described as "in great running order, runs wonderfully, and it is in working order to go down the road." After inspecting the corvette, I came to realize the car was far from the condition mentioned by the seller.
This vehicle had many mechanical problems, some of which made the car unsafe for road travel. The transmission in the car whined, the wall of the front driver tire was busted, the vehicle suspension was worn-out causing the car to sag on the driver's side, and the windows in the car did not close. The emergency break, heating system, and air-conditioning were inoperable as well. The hood did not close properly and many of the gauges on the dash were not in working order either.
There were also numerous cosmetic issues with this vehicle. Again, the seller did not mention any of these issues in the description even though ebay's listing instructions require full disclosure of an item's true condition. The car had paint falling off the body in several locations exposing the bare fiberglass underneath. The luggage rack was rusty and was missing parts. One of the t-tops was missing an inside panel and the other t-top had a panel which kept falling which dropped down and rested on the driver's head. The passenger visor was broken, which led to an obstruction of the driver's visibility. The door panels were loose, the dash was cracked, and the carpet was very wore and stained.
Besides the mechanical and cosmetic issues with the car, the seller touted a new engine, which I found out had no factory warranty. She had no paper work, receipt, or proof of any kind that the engine had warranty, which means this statement is false, and there is no warranty on the motor. Not to mention, the engine was not fully installed and she offered me a box of parts so I could have someone finish the work for me.
I know I am not the only buyer who has refused to complete the transaction after see the car in person. I was contacted by pumpkinseed338 who also bid on and won this car in an auction (270174961322) prior to the seller inappropriately relisting it again. pumpkinseed338 also felt this car was so badly misrepresented, that he backed out of the transaction as well.
I calculate this vehicle needs a minimum of $4000 worth of repairs JUST to bring it up to the condition promised by the seller. When I went to complete the transaction at the seller's home, I came with check in hand. If this vehicle was even close to the description given by the seller, I would have been more then willing to pay for the car, but due to the numerous mechanical, cosmetic, and warranty issues this car has, I refused to complete the transaction. If requested, I can provide many pictures depicting these issues.
I hope this seller does not try to take advantage of ebay as a selling mechanism in an attempt to rip off another honest ebay user.
