What it's Worth - Price Range Information
Just Sold on eBay Motors
The Just Sold on eBay Motors price range represents the lowest and highest completed sale price for this vehicle on eBay Motors within the last 90 days.
Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

1973 Chevrolet Corvette: 1973 Corvette L-82 convertible

The L-82 has more horsepower than the L-48 base model which is what I wanted. With a 3.70 Rear axle ratio it is very fast off the line. The L-82 replaced the LT-1 which was discontinued after 1972 as the small block high performance engine. The car has optional power windows, power steering and convertible top. It also has the original removable hard top which is a great find. The 1973 model has been over looked by some but is now beginning to get much more interest as the prices of earlier corvettes rise and become harder to obtain. Interestingly this car has many upgrades from the previous model year that will make it more desirable in years to come. For instance it has improved body mounts and was the first year for radial tires. Both make the ride better. The heads were designed for unleaded fuel. It also has extra steel in the doors for side impacts and a redsigned front bumper from 1972. Do your homework and buy a car with options and one that has been well cared for. When you drive this car it is like a time capsule back to your youth. You won't want to sell it!

1973 Chevrolet Corvette: Towed home after 50 miles, seller didn't disclose

The vehicle was towed home after 50 miles of pick up. Spent three hours on side of highway in the middle of nowhere. Consequently vehicle was towed 200 miles in 100 plus degree heat. Alternator brace broken and jerry rigged to start resulting in belt being destroyed. Reverse lights did not work. Although photos showed A/C vents and A/C console, the vehicle did not have a compressor. Body misalignment causes front lights to bind on opening. Windows misaligned. It costs me about $1K to pass state inspection. I would never buy another item from buyer.

This review is based on the model, not just my own personal experience of owning the vehicle. Rather it compared to the rest of the C3 class. BTW, I do 'own' and operate my own '73. It is in the original blue-green w/ black leather coupe with 350-cid 190-hp V-8 8.5:1 THM-400 automatic four-barrel. It drives very nice, it is not a monster muscle car but with the automatic trans, is a great cruiser that sounds tough, gets lots of stares and if you hae to 'lean on her' can get up and move. The HP was also derated for enviornmental compliance reasons but also measured differently this year from british BHP to today's HP stnds. So my 190 would actually be rated higher in the previous years leading up to it and certainly well over 200. The last year of the chrome rear end is significant, because most people would agree that although the front end is nice to have too, the back end changed everything, the shape and gate look nothing alike in the following years and many feel that the 74 on loose a lot of their classic look to them w/out it. A great value pick up against the other earlier 68-72 models.

There were rumours that a mid-engine Corvette would be introduced for 1973, but nothing that radical appeared. Major changes for 1973 involved the following:
new domed hood
body-color urethane plastic front bumper
fixed rear window which added a little more trunk space
new coolant-recovery system
new chassis mounts
steel-guard-beam doors
the "egg-crate" front fender side vents of the 71-72 models were replaced with non-trimmed air-duct types
radial tires
increase of sound-deadening material

I wanted a 73 Corvette to add to my collection. This car needed work, but it is worth fixing. All the problems associated with the C3's were non-existant with this car. And I got it for the right price.

the car is in average shape and it will be fun to turn to a better vehicle, i plan to renovate the interior and up grade the engine, the paint need a few touch ups but in general the car is in a good condition for the age.
