1964 Chevrolet Corvair: Corvairs are a wonderful car

04/01/07
• Overall Satisfaction:
A very good looking 60's era American car, the first production car with advanced technology features such as air cooled engine, rear mounted engine, pancake 6-cylinder, unit body construction, 4-wheel independent suspension, and the second to have a turbo charged engine.
Corvairs were built as coupes, sedans, convertibles, station wagons (rare), cargo vans, passenger vans, and pickups (also rare) with various models of glitz.
Cars are relatively easy to work on, and parts (except body and interiour) are easy and inexpensive to obtain. While not as jazzy as the muscle cars, they are not nearly as expensive to obtain and rebuild.

1964 Chevrolet Corvair: A 1964 Corvair bought from a deceitful seller

12/10/07
• Overall Satisfaction:
The transaction reviewed is for one of two 1964 Chevrolet Corvairs I purchased from the same seller. From the glossy descriptions I thought I was buying two of the best original Corvair Spyders available. Once the cars were delivered neither of the two cars would run and had to be pushed off of the trailer. Upon inspection there were many discrepancies when the cars were compared to the EBAY listing descriptions. To top if off, I have received no titles or bills of sales and none of the documentation of the provenance of ownership as described in the listings. The seller will not communicate and has accused me of being unreasonable. I have hired an attorney and am proceeding with a civil action.

I am an eight year EBAYer and I will never purchase again. The total dollars invested for the two Corvairs is $28,000, which is big money for the cars. I asked the seller to take them back or refund me $5000, he refused both offers.

1964 Chevrolet Corvair: Good Deal Great little car

This is a classic and rare car. by 1964 they had takken most of the bugs out of the Corvair (most). This little car is a piece of history and has a classic look that combine the look of the
Chevy A body with contemporary European lines as well. We are very happy with it and plan to add it to our collection and pass it to the next generation as a legacy car.

whenever I want to purchase a vehicle off an ebay listing ,I contact the chamber of commerce in th area I'm buying it from and they will put me in touch with a mechanic . I have never paid more than 50 bucks to have one go out and inspect the vehicle in question prior to sale. I have saved myself a ton of headaches by doing this. Most will go and look for about $25.00. Just thought I'd throw thqat out there.

1964 Chevrolet Corvair: Great Little Car

• Overall Satisfaction:
These cars got a bad rap from Ralph Nader. They are cute and fun to drive. Sporty and are a lot of fun with the top down!

Seller seemed upfront and honest about sale item. Answered all questions I asked about item and was willing to allow inspection of item, prior to purchase. However, would not allow me to test drive vehicle. Seller preferred to drive and I ride. I Would not recommend seller to others. I have purchased the vehicle and taken possession. Have already had problems with shifting and with the belt coming off. Will have to have mechanic inspect prior to driving any further.

1964 Chevrolet Corvair: The car looked good but was misrepresented as to condit

08/04/09
• Overall Satisfaction:
I thought I bought a really nice driver& one I could take to cruise ins. However, things advertised (seat belts) & "mechanically is flawless" is entirely wrong. The gas tank has an unadvertised leak as does the vent system in the front. The windshield wipers/washers & left turn signal didn't work. The exhaust system was about to come off & there are no heater pipes from the engine. All in all, I like the car but am really disappointed in what was advertised and what I got. I contacted the previous owner about the missing belts & she said "She must have put then in another Corvair". I have learned that I will not buy anything from a private party again.

1964 Chevrolet Corvair: A Nostalgic Dream

10/06/08(updated 10/06/08)
• Overall Satisfaction:
In 1962, right after my wife and I were married, we bought a new Corvair Monza. In a few years we out grew that great little car and were almost forced to trade for a larger car to accomodate our growing family. We have wanted a Corvair ever since. The 1964 corvair we bought from Mr. Holloman in Ft. Payne, Alabama is a dream come true. We love it! It looks great and drives good. We appreciate ebay for helping us find the car of our dreams. It is a wonderful walk down memory lane.

1964 Chevrolet Corvair: Corvair and two $20 gold pieces

10/22/07
• Overall Satisfaction:
I paid for the car and picked it up in a timely fashion. I left the guy positive feedback, even though it wasn't as nice as described, but the seller still refuses to leave me any feedback at all. Before that, two people I bought rare coins from left me negative feedback, even after I did everything I was supposed to do. EBay wouldn't remove those feedbacks, even after I proved I'd done everything right, so I feel like I've been jailed for an offense I didn't comit. Because of that, I don't plan on using ebay much in the future.
